Idiot with jumper cables- no acceleration or abs.

4Runner 2003 v8 LTD. dead battery. crossed jumpers due to my foolishness and lack of proper markings on different vehicle.

Consequences: everything still works except:
1) No acceleration at all (10mph max). Engine roars at startup, then has no power.
2.) braking is not smooth
3) check engine light and two VCS traction lights illuminated
4) rear wiper doesn't work.


Here are the codes from AAP code reader:

C1201 ABS engine control malfunction (current)
C1223 ABS malfunction in anti-lock Brake system control system ( current)
C1241 ABS low battery positive voltage or abnormally high battery positive voltage (current)
C1256 ABS Accumulator low pressure malfunction (current)
P2118 ECM Throttle Actuator Control motor Current Range/ performance (history)
P2118 ECM throttle Actuator control Motor Current Range/ performance (confirmed)

Any thoughts? I'm not even sure where to start.

(As a side note, I was picking it up from a mechanic who just looked at my problematic RAS. Could he have accidentally messed with something to cause the VCS lights? The battery was dead when I picked it up after hours so lights could have been pre-screwup )

maybe start by checking fuses?

I had this exact problem. My battery died, had someone come by and jump me (I was a girl so I'm sure that's why he insisted on putting the cables on himself)...they put the cables on backward. I heard the "pop". Car started, but had the same symptoms as you. I limped it to the nearest auto supply store to get a new battery. New battery in, same problem. Found the ETCS fuse blown...replaced and I was back on the road. I cleared the codes to get the rest of the lights off once I got home....Fixed!

I almost did this

I was jump starting my car due to a bad battery and I wasn't paying close attention. I was an inch away from putting the last jumper on the wrong terminal when i stopped myself. I didn't realize that could happen...
