Idle jumping and dropping 550-900

Ok so it’s been getting worse lately to the point when it gets down in the 500’s it shakes a bit like it’s going to stall. Good plugs, wires , MAF cleaned , a/c on and in park. I’ve searched and can’t find an answer anyone have any other ideas ?

Does it do the same with the a/c turned off?

Make sure the battery has plenty of juice.

Clean the TB with TB cleaner.

First off, what year and engine - Makes a difference.

-Check all vacuum lines. Unplug and cap off hose to brake booster
-Clean throttle body and IAC
-Test your TPS
-Test your O2 sensor

2000 SR5 3.4L all vacuum lines secure , TPS threw code 2 months ago and was replaced. No codes currently. Throtle body was cleaned 8-9000 miles ago

Might just be the compressor cycling on and off. I'd definitely remove and clean the IAC really well.

If the TB was really dirty, the IAC may be in the same condition.

Ok so it seems to be much better with the A/C off and just idling. Seems more consistent. So it’s related to A/C being on and the compressor kicking in. It didn’t do this before so what’s the issue ?

Your revs might not have changed but if you need a ‘tune up’ you can make the AC compressor cycling more dramatic because the low RPM idle is getting rough.

I put ‘tune up’ in quotes because nowadays shops sell tuneups and they really don’t do anything to ECU controlled cars. Tune up now is more about keeping things douched so the electronics can do their job.

It’s either fuel spark or compression. Oh wait, clogged cat maybe, but that would throw CEL. Without CEL my bet would be ignition. Fuel probs are caught easier by CEL, but still possible.

I’d check how the plugs look. What do you mean the wires are good? They look good or you replace them? Check the connections? Coil packs?

Upstream O2 sensor? Fuel pressure regulator? Pump or filter?

Probably just a coincidence.
If you cleaned the TB but did not remove the IAC, some crap probably flowed down to the IAC and gunked it up. Time to clean that IAC.

Don't forget a new IAC gasket, part #22215-62180.
Don't worry though, I ran with a sporadic idle all winter, and only got to it when it was warm. Just keep more distance to the car ahead, and if needed, brake harder and give the throttle a blip. Keeps it from stalling at a light. (mine was actually okay and would only completely stall 1-10 times, normally the ECU corrects it and saves it from stalling)

I just had this issue with my 3rz. I thought it was old gas because I haven't driven it anywhere in over a year. I was on "E" & added fresh gas & the same thing. It was the battery not holding a charge. It was fine when revving but almost stalling when idling. I killed the battery over the last year by not keeping a charge on it.

Clean or replace the IAC. Makes a huge difference and is easy to do.

Ok so going to order some new plugs it’s been longer than I thought 50,000 since I replaced them. Wow just looked almost $10 a piece for plugs !!! Wow they have gone up!! I’ve never cleaned the iac is there a good write up on this ?

Last time I bought plugs, NGK 3967, they were $4 each at NAPA.
