I agree with the article. I definitely think Gates is a far better human being and a better person...much more so than Jobs. But, i think that in their field of expertise, Jobs was second to none. So, it depends on how you want to view this...if you're into business and want to see how it should be done, then i think that Jobs is a good example. Gates is too, but the charisma far favors Jobs. If you want to see how you can better yourself in the world, then Gates is the man.

If you guys search Youtube for Gates and Jobs, there are a few videos of Jobs and Gates together...and you will see that Gates looks and acts like a nerd with zero personality. Jobs is charismatic and energetic. I think that Gates has even admitted that he is amazed at Jobs whenever he visits Apple site and see Jobs working. The way Jobs can create energy in the workplace is amazing.

But, yeah, as a human being, Jobs is selfish, cold, calculating, and full of arrogance...basically, a full blown *********. I don't think that anyone doubts this.

Gates is someone you want your kids to idolize and run for President of the US. Jobs is someone who you want to run your personal business or company to make profits.

One of the things I really like about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is that they are focusing on those who are the *most* in need. Often Americans (myself included) don't realize how lucky we have it compared to the rest of the world. The foundation is one of the top financiers of aid to help prevent HIV and Malaria in the developing world.

Another thing about Gates. Early on, he pegged virtually his entire net worth to the future of Microsoft. It's nice to see where the money is ending up after that incredible bet paid off.

Ruthless, no doubt. Cruel is a much more dubious claim even if he had had the time for it. The he said, she said could go on forever trying to establish exact truths about the old methods and motivations of either one of them.

What is much more clear is what is being done with that money through the foundation right here and now. Regardless of his motivation for doing it, it's getting done and it's a good thing.

If you bought Microsoft and Apple stock in November of 1987, you would have paid $49.75 per share for both Microsoft and Apple.

Both stocks have split many times.. It's not apples to apples.. pardon the Pun. Plenty of people have made lots of money of MS stock.

Here's one reason I'm pissed at apple. I'm an artist - the studios I have worked at the last 20 years have always used macs for their photoshop etc. The editors using final cut pro.. These are the people who kept Apple alive for 20 years before the ipod made them mainstream and the company showed growth potential.. Now they are drunk over the consumer level success and have completely abandoned the creative industry that they owe their longevity too. They turned Final cut pro into a mom and pop app that no professional can use. They announced the end of their "pro" line - with the exception of the macbookpro.. But no more pro towers for the professionals. They are turning their back on what's always been their core market.. F U apple!

I'll also say there is an element of, "the emperors new clothes" when it comes to ios. Try to manage your files, the inability of apps to share files with sandboxing - having to use webpages to transfer files to specific apps- the myriad of other roadblocks to efficiency and yet everyone thinks the ipad is amazing.. I got one - It's a toy.. Kind fun - but largely it's useful for killing time on a plane - if I want to be productive I use my desktop or laptop.

Unfortunately android falls short and has many of it's own issues. Google showing their infancy in the OS game. I'm hoping windows 8 offers some real competition. There's better hardware out there than apples - we just need a good OS to have a real ipad contender.

I've been an apple and PC user for many many years.. I don't become fans of companies - I access each product based on it's own merits and use the best tool for the job. 90% of my work is on a windows PC. The most stupid thing in the world is all these "consumers" who so passionately align themselves with a company as if the company actually cares about them.. So naive. They actually argue and get defensive about these companies.. but they are the no brain consumer than these companies love.. AKA suckers.

I highly disagree with this. I had an iPhone when they first came out and when I switched to verizon a couple years ago i went with an android and I loved it. Well my contract lapsed recently so I picked up an iPhone 4s because its the "most amazing iPhone yet" but I am far from impressed with it. I feel that I could do way more and there is much more available for the Android.

I do like iPod/iTunes better than anything else out there though
