These threads, so many of them.... really annoy me.. Toyota isn't stupid enough to abandon one of their most successful niche vehicles to venture towards a 2nd unibody design (highlander being the unibody option to the 4runner). It will not happen. I was about to type an "if they do..this this and that" but that doesn't even make sense itself. It WONT happen.

That said, IMO the 5th gen 4runners are more comfortable stock than stock highlanders. Road bumps are absorbed much more, and although engine sound dampening may not be as noticeable.. the road noise in the highlander are a bit much for my taste (2013) vs the 2012 4runner..

I agree. If ford hasn't discontinued the expedition yet, I wouldn't worry about the 4runner lmao Personally I find the 4runner way more comfortable than the highlander. Maybe it's just to blan and soft idk. But I wouldn't worry about the future of the 4runner, it seems to be doing just fine.

Though I think the T4R's future is safe, I'll play along. Honestly I'd buy two 3rd Gens or one really nice 4th Gen (2 for the price of 1) and drive them/it until the wheels fall off and are no longer serviceable. Then it's time to start looking at Ford Raptors.

I d probly end up looking in the direction of the FJ or XTerra.. Not a fan of Nissan but that would probly be the one to replace it.. Then again we still have our Landcruiser(LX470) so I think Id start using it alot more..

I dont think he meant that your response was bogus lol. I think my post might have come off a little harsh.. im just saying TOYOTA will not get rid of the 4runner after this cycle.. or the next.

Unfortunately, a couple of days ago the Toyota Fleet website officially confirmed that the FJ Cruiser will be discontinued at the end of the 2014 model year.

If i have to buy new then it's Jeep JK or tacoma, if used then obviously a used 4runner.

I already work on them all day,if money was not an issue i would buy a 1st and 2nd gen T4R (already have a 3rd Gen) a V8 4th gen. for towing or an LC 100.I also love pre 85 Toy trucks and Celica.

One of my dream vehicles.

I came close to getting an FJ before my 3rd gen, so probably one of those. Would love to get back into a Taco, but it would be too long for my tastes needing both the quad cab and the six foot bed. I guess the six foot bed isn't necessary, but I kinda figure what's the point of owning a truck if you don't have at least a six foot bed?
