If You Off-road Your 5th Gen with P-metric Tires Please Vote

Which trails did you do, and what did you personally think of the conditions on each? I would definitely like to get more than just Cinnamon in during this trip if I can help it. We were gonna take Ophir going west to east, unless it's gnarly. Along with Corkscrew/California, Engineer, Cinnamon back to Silverton, and ultimately taking Stony Pass out.

That website is helpful, although it's hard to know how old the updates are on each trail. A month makes a lot of difference.

We did Cinnamon, Ophir, and Imogene. We were lined up to do California/Corkscrew but had to jump off the trail for a medical issue, and we ended up punting on Engineer. Cinnamon and Ophir were fine…Ophir was a little spicier coming down into the town of Ophir, but outside of the first two switchbacks, it’s just narrow and gravely.

Imogene coming down from the top towards Ouray was a 6.5/10 spice level for me, but I’m relatively new to this style of driving. My 4R is a 2021 ORP on a 2/1’’ lift, stock sized AT’s, and full aluminum armor underneath. We were getting sleet/freezing rain as we descended headed into Ouray, and the first mile-ish had some rather steep ledges/angles. I slipped going down one drop off I couldn’t see (should have gone slower and spotted it) and absolutely hammered my engine skid. Cracked a weld and severely deformed it. I would absolutely not want to go up from Ouray to go over, especially if the weather sucks….start on the other side.

Everything from the “poser” point lookout and south is pretty mild. It was raining pretty hard for us and I slipped on rocks a few times, but nothing that caused damage, just a little butt puckering.

Thanks! We're coming from Utah, so we were thinking of taking Ophir from west to east. Doesn't look like we're gonna get rained out too hard. I called Switzerland Of America yesterday, and they claimed all the trails I listed are in totally fine condition, they haven't had any problems with them all summer. They actually said it's been a "dry" winter/summer for them, which confused me, since it seemed like the counties were plowing these mountain passes well into summer.

I only have stock TRD Offroad skid plates for this trip, so I'm not going to attempt anything tooooo Crazy. I did California/Corkscrew/Engineer three years ago in a rental Wrangler Willys Sport, and found nothing scary about any of the above three trails in that.

I called Switzerland Of America yesterday, and they claimed all the trails I listed are in totally fine condition, they haven't had any problems with them all summer. They actually said it's been a "dry" winter/summer for them, which confused me, since it seemed like the counties were plowing these mountain passes well into summer.

Happy to help! Lots of goobers driving those SoA jeeps up on Imogene while I was there. Black Bear is still very much closed, but the rest (outside of the approach to Ouray) should be fine with careful driving. Have fun!

Not that it's really necessary, but an update on my end is that my 2023 ORP and our P265/70R17 Falken AT3W's had a great time in Colorado. Done more offroading in Utah since as well.

No problems from the P-metrics. Doing White Rim Road and a couple others in late April. Love how well behaved the P-metrics are on road, love that they clearly hold up to fairly serious offroad use, and love getting 25mpg on the highway at 70-72mph.
