IM BACK! Bought another 3rd gen, this time with a locker!

He HAD an 02 which in 4Hi center unlocked can drive on pavement.

He HAS a 98 which in 4Hi the center is always locked (because you can't unlock it like later models).

4Hi unlocked = pavement driveable
4Hi locked = pavement binding

He shouldn't drive on pavement in 4Hi ever with his current 4Runner. Same applies for 4Lo.

Thanks everyone for clearing that up. I will not engage 4whl on pavement.period. It is good to know that the 4runner is operating and functioning as it should, considering the lady that owned it before hadn't engaged 4whl in 8yrs.
