I learned my lesson 20 years ago...ALWAYS CALL THE COPS. Guy ran a stop light and hit me...Both hit our brakes hard...and by the time he hit me he was only doing about 10mph..but it still did damage....He admitted it was his fault..and we exchanged info....Next day I go to file with my insurance company...and he had already filed saying I ran the red light. I ended up paying for my damage to my car (about $800). Couldn't prove either one....

Moral of the story...ALWAYS CALL THE POLICE.

About 10 years ago....a woman hit my car backing out of a parking space at Sears...I was right there...I said we need to call the police..she said it was such a small dent...I said sorry...I'm calling the police...She got real upset and said she's not waiting around for the police to show up..I said either wait or get arrested for leaving the scene of an accident...She called her hubby who told her she didn't have to wait..so she left...police showed..and I explained what happened...and told them that she didn't want to wait....They called another unit and had her arrested....Man was she pissed...Her hubby came down to the mall and was really pissed...told the police that it was me who backed out of the parking space and that I had threatened her....Police didn't believe him...mainly because if that was the case they would be the ones calling the police...And then I pointed out to the police that there was a security camera on one of the parking lights....the guy then backed off his story...His wife was released that night and had to pay a $500 fine....The whole side of my car needed to be painted to fix it right.....$2000.

I guess I'm one of the honest ones left in the country.

I accidently backed into a Chevy Blazer (small one) in the parking lot. The 2" ball in my reciever put a dent in the licence plate and twisted the bumper a few degrees. Enough to notice. SO I pulled out some paper, wrote all my info down and waited patiently for the owner to come out of the grocery store. The lady was nice enough but wanted to call her husband just to make sure she was doing everything she needed to be. This jerk came down and started yelling at me and accusing me that I would go file a report that she hit me. I offered to have the police come and make a report if he would like but I also pointed out how she was parked and that it wasn't a marked parking space. Needless to say he called me some more names and then said I'd be hearing from him..

I called the police and filed an incident report (funny they knew of this guy too) and called my insurance company. Nothing ever came of it.
