I'm missing my tool to lower my spare tire.

I seem to be missing my long tool to lower the spare tire. I obviously need that in case of an emergency. Would anyone be so kind to sell me one cheap or suggest something else I can use/make to be able to lower it if need be?

I bet a 2' or 3' - 3/8" extention & a ratchet would work although I've never tried it.

And yeah, I've heard that a 3/8" Extension with a ratchet works great.

I'd be happy to grab one for you at the junkyard next time I go, I don't think shipping would be too expensive. Or just look at a local yard yourself.

I have a two foot 3/8" extension and it works fine. If I'm at home, I put a 3/8" bit adapter on my cordless drill and it makes lowering and raising the tire a breeze.

I keep a set of tools (including a ratchet) in my truck if I'm away from home and need to access the spare.

Otherwise, I'm sure you can find one in a JY.

According to your sig, you're missing more than just the tool.... you're missing everything that was attached to it. lol.

And if you are missing the crank for the spare tire, you're also missing the crank for the bottle jack.

We should first check to make sure the OP has checked under the rear passenger side seat for the tools... The bottle jack, lug wrench, etc. are there.

At least a half dozen posters over the years never knew they were under the seat until we told them.

A couple times, I've used the tools found in junkyard T4Rs to grab lugnuts from the 'pull-for-you' yards. They won't let you bring in your own tools, and they won't sell you lugnuts, but if you come back out with a handful that you 'found', they let you have them.

A 3/8 adapter on a drill works great for raising and lowering the stock jack as well. The adapter fits perfectly in the open end of the hook piece, instead of the extension/handle.
