Importing a Prado

Anybody have experience or advice (or talk me out of it) in importing foreign models. I am considering buying a second hand Prado from the LHD market, probably stick with a 4.0 since the diesel may have some issues - emissions, fuel quality etc.
Your thoughts?

if your going to go through all the trouble of importing a vehicle, do two things

get it in RHD, and get a diesel

If you have the $$$ import the Land Cruiser 70 series (truck, work, troop carrier models). This design is actually a new model for Australia. Might be available in the Caribbean.

I always just figured if I had the cash I would buy a GX470 and rebadge it and whatnot. You could probably get an interior from a Prado much easier than getting a Prado itself into the country.

that is a NICE looking LC! man, id get deisel!

dont have any words of advice, but please do it, and keep us posted!

Yeh, the 70 pickup has been in South Africa forever. You litterly cannot kill it. My cousin has one, see pic.
The facelifted wagon became available last year and the pickup now has the new V8 naturally aspirated diesel, can you imagine the grunt!

Well dwulffusa & SciRunner just "forced" me to waste 20min on Toyota.au. They have some very cool vehicles! The 70 series rocks!

I was surprised at how expensive they are... A curreny conversion reveiled there's only about an 8% difference in dollars. I must admit though, if I could I would :bigok:
