Infinity Kappa 60.9cs and Kappa 52.9i Fitment??? Spacers?

So I just installed my old Kenwood DDX896 in my 4runner, along with a nice Alpine 4 channel amp. I had some first generation Alpine Type R 6.5" components that I was going to install, and low and behold, I cant fit them in the front without at least a 3/4" spacer and a bit of metal trimming.

The metal trimming doesn't bother me, and spacers don't to an extent, but that would be a lot of spacing to do with the door panel.

I want to buy some of the previous generation Infinity Kappas.

60.9cs Components for the Front
52.9i 2way Coaxials in the rear.

From what I can tell, and what Crutchfield has told me, I should be good with the 60.9cs in the front. I may have to do some work to mount the tweeter, but otherwise, I should be fine.

There fit guide says that the 52.9i doesn't fit, but I have seen at least one thread on T4R where someone used them, he just mentioned that he bought some adapters? Does anyone know a source for these?

Basically, I'm just looking to confirm fitment of the front and see if I can get the rear to work also.

I can't tell you for sure, but if you buy them from Crutchfield, they will include a set of adapters if required. I think you will still need the adapters. Toyota speaker mount pattern doesn't seem to be standard at all. I am looking at those speakers as well. I have had 3 different sets of them since 2000 and have been very impressed.

I have Kappa 6.5" in front and 6x9 in rear.

Anything larger than 4" will likely require doing some cutting. The real risk is that the giant magnets on the Kappas, for example my 6x9s will prevent the window from rolling all the way down.

The best you can do is eyeball and trace out what needs to be cut in the rear door then use metal shears to cut the metal and drill new holes for the screws.

I'm running Alpine SPX-17PRO's up front an 13Pro's rear. I don't recall havinf to use and spacers.

I dont know if you have done the speakers yet but you can go down to your local Home Depot and get MDF board, they have different thicknesses. I did this when I did mine, I think I picked up a piece of 1/4 and a piece of 3/4 and cut a ring and a plate for the opening.

You can use MDF and make a propeer-ish mount or you crude cut smartly and use rubber like dynamat to fill any small gaps.

I have 6x9s and I just eye balled it.

I don't actually recommend 6x9 though. The Kappa magnet is too large and the window won't go all the way down. Go with 5.25" Kappas.

I ended up going with Kappa 60.11cs Components for the front (new generation 6.5) and Kappa 52.9i speakers for the rear (previous generation, 5.25)

The front worked fine using the Infinity speaker bracket with the OEM mount and doing a little bit a trimming to fit the basket.

The rear, I am still waiting on my adapter and a 1/4" spacer to arrive from MJM innovations.
