Inner Tie Rod End: OEM Vs Sankei 555

Personally, Spend the extra money on all OE parts for steering and balljoints.
The factory parts last 200k. Do you want to find out that you should have bought OE while driving down the road? Go OE and don't worry for another 200k.

I'm looking at ITREs right now and I came across this thread in my search. [MENTION=52371]Gerdo[/MENTION] - do you believe that Toyota OME parts will last 200K taking into consideration that offroad driving conditions are much more brutal than highway driving conditions? I'm at 145K right now. I bought it at 130K and the original owner never got a speck of mud on this 01 4Runner . . . which leads me to doubt your 200K claim. Thankfully I can install these myself... because they are uber expensive.

Check for any free-play and replace.
NEVER EVER 555 brand. they wear out next day.

I'm not going to guaranty that you are going to get 200k out of the factory steering parts (no one will guaranty this). Depending on it's use, your mileage may vary. It sure seems like people are having failures around that 200k mark.

Check for play. Replace if you have play.

ONCE I used non OE front end parts on my 4runner and had to replace them shortly after (probably only 30-40k on them).

This... I just popped my outer tie rod end out and there is so much play in the inner. Called up a few toyota places and all they sell is the rack with the ITREs attached.

Look what I got in the mail this week! Two new OEM ITRE from Amayama. It ran $163.80 for the set with shipping. The shipping was quick too! Thanks again for the heads upUnner! This made sticking with OEM a lot easier. :whoo:

I ended up with an aftermarket inner. So far so good. Next time I have it apart I'll see what kind of shape it's in. Good to know there are factory replacements available though; If I'd had that option, that's the route I would have gone.
