Input Requested - XREAS w spacers

Hi all, looking for some advice. I have a 15 LE with 2.5"/1.5" spacers on my XREAS. I don't mind a stiffer ride but I'm noticing a lot of hard bottoming of the shock travel while off-road given the more limited travel.

My question is whether or not this jarring halt in the travel is causing wear and tear that'll lead to vehicular damage.

I'm contemplating removing XREAS and going to a proper kit but don't want to incur the expense unless I'm buying myself some insurance so to speak in doing so.

I'll be getting out to FJ summit this summer, doing runs in the front range, and have my eyes set on Moab. The latter is where the damage concerns come into play most.

So what say you? Bite the bullet and get a proper kit or ride the spacers with the jarring until the system needs to go.

Thanks all

rip that trash out and upgrade. Spacers are just fine on flat land but if you are going to articulate the suspension your shocks will eventually fail

The only reason we have the spacers on my wife's 5th gen is because they're still under warranty and it was hard for me to justify ripping out a perfectly good system. We've gotten it through some pretty challenging stuff that we were not expecting to get into, but it still kept up with all the modded guys, albeit a little slower.

I will say though that the first time I took my 4th gen out, the ride was noticeably better than the 5th gen, and obviously you'll get a little more articulation with the suspension.

ripping out the suspension doesn't void the warranty on anything other than the system you ripped out.

I'm not worried about the whole vehicle warranty. We're not extreme off-roaders, and my wife liked the current ride -- she pretty much lives out of the 4runner during the work week. I kept the XREAS with the top spacers so it would retain that ride feeling while giving a little bump in height for bumper clearance etc. She also wasn't thrilled of me ripping things out of her brand new ride. If she springs a leak, at least there is still a chance of dealer replacement. The worst case scenario, they say no, and we buy aftermarket. Is it the most off-road worthy ride? No. Is she happy? Yes.

That harshness you feel is from the spacers. Get a decent kit. The basic Toytec kit with the Eibach springs and 5100s would be light years better offroad than what you have now.
