I've searched but was unable to find any but I'm looking for a spare tire mount that mounts inside the rear compartment and stands the tire up on the passenger side, oh yeah, 2000 4Runner Limited with 265/75-16

Sounds like you're wanting something like the Cherokee XJ spare tire mount. All you would need is a loop to put a long threaded bolt with a hook onto, put it through your rim, and thread a nut/washer combo on or even a cherokee bolt/nut from a junk yard might do it if it's long enough. Here are a couple of pics to clarify my weird wording.

I have little to add except that I heard about some people trying to mount the tire inside who were using 1st Gen rear roll bars. Some sort of bracket that mounted to the roll bar assemble. I searched and found very little.

My search came up empty, I remeber the guy built a little arm out of steel with a hub that the wheel sat on and it was ratchet strapped around the arm, bolted it to the wheel well.

The 1st gen rollbar doesn't really work, anything larger than a stock tire won't fit under it, I planned on hauling my 315 around in the back, but there's no way it'll fit, at the most you might have room for a 32" Tire, a larger running 33" barely fit with enough room to close the hatch.

Another option would be to get a 1st gen rollbar and chop the legs off and weld in a tire mount, it would be very sturdy.

What about having a a large metal platform (sort of like one in linked pic), that would allow you to mount hardware without having to do much in the way of invasive hardware changes to the actual vehicle?

This way, you could rig up an arm that comes up from base to secure tire in an upward position. Or maybe go lower with another layer over for storage over the covered tire?
