Inspired by others, 3M matte black TE hood

Put it under your door handles. I hate when people scratch their nails there when opening my doors.

I also hate when my sons 12 year old friend opens my door, right into the miror of the car next to me. TWICE! Then, when I say something, she rolls her eyes as if to say "yeah whatever old man".

I could have killed her. Now I have a nice little paint chip missing on the edge of the plastic at the bottom of the door. Nice.

You said it lasts for ~4 years, does that mean you have to pull it off after 3 and redo it?

Yeah, I'm sure by around that time it's pretty beat up, and leaving it on too long will be a pain to pull off later. I don't think it will dmg the pain or anything but leave a bunch of adhesive junk on the hood. Not bad since it protects the hood.

Yup, did that with clear bra, I have a couple of pictures, I'll post them up this weekend.

Looks nice! I was thinking, what about spraying the hood with plastidip? People are using it for their wheels, and I've had it on my rack fairing for several months now and it looks good as new. Any drawbacks?

Drawbacks to the vinyl? Not much... if you don't like it, you can always remove it after a few months. Somewhat easy to use.

You can try putting some clear bra on the edge too? maybe that'll help when he swings the door open

It's not perfect but it's good enough for me. You can re do parts of it to fit you standards. All I did was grab some paper drew out the size i wanted with a pencil and cut it for a template.

I just got my T4R three days ago. Midnight Black.
I have yet to drive it into the sun, so I don't know how much the glare factor is.
I considered a film (OPs looks GREAT! ), but I live in the hottest part of Arizona.
Durability of the film is a concern.
I'm thinking of having the hood clear-coated flat on the center section and semi-flat on the sides, breaking along the body lines on the hood.
I'll have to drive it into the rising or setting sun first.
