Install: Cornfed 3/2, Cooper STT 285/70/17 and Spidertrax

Shaving a section of the body mount and re-welding is a very good option if you need the extra space. Someone on this forum has done it and posted very detailed photos....

Is someone currently running 12.5 inch tires right now with a 3/2 spacer lift??? If so, I would like to see it! I know Leesdawg used to on 20" American Racing wheels but he got rid of them because of the space limitations and other reasons.
 
Im not sure of anyone running 12.50's on the cornfed setup, im sure there would be some definite rubbing issues to deal with, especially off road.
The two I saw who modded their body mount were crozhawk and expat over (on toyota120.com) , crozhawk removed a small section of his whereas expat removed ALOT more. If you do a search over there u'll see the pics.
 
I forgot about this thread, but i recently increased my tire/wheel size from a 265 to a 285x70x17 (33") BFG KM2 on my sleeper. The added tire size was going to work havic on the fenders so out came the cutoff wheel.
I thought some maybe interested in my trimming process. I was able to trim a good 1" out of the fenders without getting into the door. Looks stock, if I ever get my hands on some Limited fender flairs I'll rivet them on.

I covered the sharp edges and hacks with a small piece of trim.

All things were good until I took my FUNRunner to the local toyota dealer to have a knocking noise sorted out. The tech put the nuts (tappered) into the tappered holes on my Spidertrax spacers backwards. Of course he put them on with a air gun which totaly stripped out the holes ruining the spacers. Note-to-self: If anyone touches your junk look over their work before you leave their shop.
 
Chaplain...do you have any pics of the whole truck from the front and back? Id like to see the width of the tires and how they stick out whithout the wheelwells.
 
hey, sry, don't have time to read this whole thread, but how do the Coops ride? and handle off-road?
i'm considering a set of 265/75/16s for my '96 4WD...
 
Just wait until I get up these new wheels mounted up!!! I'm having problems with NTB telling me they don't have the ability to order the Cooper STT's (even though I ordered my original STT's from them almost 2 years ago). 4 wheel parts is having a huge sale on April 12th so I'm calling there tomorrow to see if I can special order through them.

Call BFG, they won't give you ANY problems and order up a set of KM2's, you'll love them!!!

I love the KM2's, don't get me wrong (my brother has them on his truck) but the tread/sidewall design of the STT's and the positive experience I had with my first set has me fixed on buying another pair.

Mavis tire has them in 275-65-18 Their prices on Coopers seems pretty good.

WOW! That is less than I bought my 285/70/17's for. I was not expecting that. Even with $136 in shipping the price for 4 tires comes to an average of $255 a tire....this may be a good option....

Alright, finally got some photos loaded up.

Cooper Discoverer STT 275/65/18

The centercaps don't fit. Procomp may have sent me the wrong caps but I think I remember someone else having this problem with Procomp and their 4Runner. The caps fit through the wheels but they are about 2mm too narrow to fit over the hub bore itself. Should get this straightened out shortly....anyway....
