Install TRD Pro bumper garnish in the cold?

My TRDP bumper garnish will be here Thursday. Do you think there will be any issues installing it in an unheated garage with it being a high of 40 degrees that day? On such an expensive piece of plastic, I'd hate to mess with that adhesive's sticking ability.

Also what do you feel the minimum temp for spray painting should be? I want to paint the front and rear lower bumper garnish pieces (from silver to black)

I wouldn't, but I bet a kerosene heater would get your garage warm enough that it would be okay. I'd try to make sure surface temps were at least 50-55.

or another idea would be to remove the bumper cover and bring it inside for awhile to warm up

Thanks. I will probably just try as hard as I can to wait until it warms up. I have a full bumper day planned.

• Remove front and rear bumpers
• Take off silver front and rear lower bumper trim pieces
• Paint silver front and rear lower bumper trim pieces flat black (3 coats + clear)
• Install delphi QD connectors on amber bumper marker light mod
• Install my Baja Designs Squadron-R fog pocket kit
• Install TRDP and upper grille piece

Now I just have to not get too antsy between now and spring.

I installed mine in similar temperatures that you describe.

I used a heat gun to warm up the parts that would receive the 2-sided temp, as per the instructions that came with the garnish. And then I spent a good amount of time applying pressure to the garnish after it was applied.

It's been a nasty winter here, and the garnish is holding on perfectly. Ive been washing 2x a week in the bays with the high pressure sprayers too. At least a dozen times, and I've inspected the garnish-- no issue whatsoever.

I wouldn't have done it in colder weather if the instructions did not reference a heat gun....

I've pulled off and reinstalled my TRD garnish 2x during winters of 2015 & 2016. I just take a heating gun to warm up the area and stick it on. Never had any issues.

Using a heat gun should be just fine. Just get the mounting surface warm and same with the TRD piece and tape. Once that stuff is on, its really on. Good luck!
