I went way outside my comfort zone on this to start with. I have it wired up, mostly like recommended in the included instructions. I chose not to tap into the headlights for power and instead ran straight off the battery, only problem with this is I have direct power to the switch and could brainfart and leave on the lights (:ybrick:). So my question is can I use a mini fuse tap to run power to the switch and will that change it over to keyed power so I cant leave accidentally leave the lights on. On a second note I was going to reorganize the factory switch/button layout into something that was more conducive to me, but it appears that Toyota use different templates for each of them and the corresponding factory hole.

thanks

I know pics, will upload later.

Yeah I'm pretty curious as to how the are mounted also. Maybe its the picture, but the one the left doesn't look like it is mounted in the same location as the on on the right.

Let me help you out a little here (I won't ask for more pics :) )

Those lights need to be wired with a relay and a switch.

The relay will control power to the lights directly from the battery. The switch will operate the relay- so yes, you can source an ignition-only power supply with the mini tap and run it to the switch, and the output of the switch will operate the relay.

The factory switches can be mounted in any hole with a little trimming of the "keyed" plastic. Pull out the switches you want to move, and determine which slots don't line up with the holes in the dash, and trim a little. I moved mine around first week I had my truck!

Antman thank you, I have the relay hooked up that came with the kit and the kit switch in one of the factory holes, I will get a tap fuse and use that. I used angle iron and attached it to the back side of the grill by popping out the four plastic clips on the bottom that were connected to very light weight metal bracket. Then I ran "L" brackets off of the angle iron out the holes in the grill. I am a touch off on the holes I drilled in the L brackets but other wise its pretty close. Not as solid as I had hoped, trying to convince the boss "wife" into letting me buy a defiant light bar, unless someone knows of something similar for less?

Thanks

They do seem to have better light output than the headlights, defiantly more of a focus beam.

Brock forgiveness is .........

MOAR pics, you can see my angle iron mount with the L bracket coming off of it. Not as solid as I hoped but for now it will work.

So this next weekend I plan on adding the mini fuse tap. My question or quest for guidance is; do I tap into the fuse box in the engine bay, I will need to cut a slot for the wire to come out of, I am thinking I should then caulk around the slot to prevent excess moisture from getting in. Also I was thinking tapping in-line below the mirror heater fuse? Thoughts? I figure I will also install the Infinity Reference series at the same time and move around the factory switches at the same time as I will have to disconnect the battery to comfortably do any of the above. Yes now I am just rambling.

Thanks for your vote err.. time,

You don't need to tap into the engine bay fusebox. Use the fusebox above the drivers footwell. Plug the fuse tap into the p-outlet location. This provides ignition-only power.

When you move the factory switches around, it's easier to trim the slots in the dash, than grind the switches down. The dash trims very easily with a sharp X-acto knife. The plastic is very soft... easy!
