Installed new HU, now driver's side window auto down feature doesn't work...

So I removed the JBL 6 disc changer HU from my 2006 4Runner Limited and replaced it with a Sony unit I had removed from my previous truck. I did this primarily because I wanted to move my Sirius satellite radio over and also because the Sony has full Bluetooth capability so I can now stream music and take/make calls handsfree.

Everything seems to be working normally, however the driver's side window no longer works on auto, meaning that I can no longer just press the button and have the window go either all the way down or all the way up; I have to manually hold the switch as with the other three windows.

Any thoughts on what might have caused this?

Did you disconnect the battery when you did the install? If so, it's easy to get the auto feature back. You may not have noticed but the trunk's auto switch probably doesnt work either. Just turn on the car, sit there, and literally play with the driver's window. It will automatically program itself to do auto again.

I did disconnect the battery during the install, so hopefully what you've posted here will fix it. Thanks for the reply and I'll follow up once I've determined whether or not I can get it working again.

RX900 is partially right. You don't play with the switch, you turn the key on "on" (don't turn the engine on) while you do, press and hold the drivers window button down for like 10 seconds or something like that. I can't find the link that shows you how to do it. Very simple to do.

That did it, thanks. Unfortunately, I seem to have much bigger fish to fry now. When I did the initial install, the fit kit Crutchfield sent me was the wrong one so there was a big gap around the entire face of the stereo. I ordered a new one from a local car stereo shop and proceeded to install it today.

What I thought was going to be an easy in-and-out procedure turned into a nightmare as the radio continually lost power as I was sliding it back into the dash. I checked and re-checked all of the splices and everything seemed tight, however clearly something wasn't working correctly.

I finally got it back together and everything was working perfectly, until about an hour ago when I started my car to leave the driving range. First, I noticed that the check engine light, the VSC Off, VSC Trak, and the Slip Indicator lights were all on. Then after my buddy got out of the car I noticed that the passenger airbag was indicating "off" and the seatbelt light was flashing, even though there wasn't anyone in the passenger seat.

I'm literally feeling sick right now and would appreciate any advice or feedback as to what could be causing all these problems all of the sudden. Everything seemed to have been working great but now my entire dash looks like a Christmas tree.

No, not yet, but that's next on my list. I had the negative lead off today when I was inside the dash so maybe that had something to do with it, but it seems odd that there was a delay of several hours between the time I finished with the stereo and the lights coming on...who knows.

I'm going out now to disconnect the battery again and I'll post the follow-up shortly.

long shot, but have you tried to unplug the battery to reset everything?

I went out last night and disconnected both the negative and positive leads on the battery and waited about five minutes before hooking things back up. So far the lights are all out and everything seems to be working normally, but I've got a feeling they'll be back on at some point. If they do come back on, I'll probably take it someplace where they've got an OBDII reader to have the codes pulled. I just bought this truck so I'm really hoping it's not a bad cat or something; I'll literally go ape ****.
