The nav unit on our 2005 limited has been unusable for a few months due to a flickering display, and is as ancient as the hills anyways, so I decided to try and replace it with an Appradio 2. I figured it would be a matter of plugging thing A into hole B but it's apparently a lot more complicated than that.
I could use a little help from someone who actually knows what they are doing.
I have the PAC TATO as a wiring harness. I've connected the four basic wires for power, ground and dim with butt splices, and then attached the RCA cables to the Appradio. The Appradio powers on fine, but sound only ever goes to the front left speaker. Changing the fade and balance settings on the Appradio just reduces the sound from the front left speaker.
Questions:
1. How do I get sound to all speakers? Is the PAC TATO the wrong thing to be using?
2. I'd like to hook up the backup camera. Since the Appradio has an RCA connector for this, I assume this will require splicing some of the wires from one of the connectors into an RCA plug, if I can find proper wiring diagrams. Does this make sense or am I totally off track?
3. I'd like to bypass the silly emergency brake sensor. Apparently a manual toggle switch is the only option. Are there switches that are known to fit the 4runner trim? I bought a random one on the internet but it's a little too big.
