installing an infant car seat in 04 4Runner

need some help for a first time dad.

I just got an infant car seat for my baby boy (due in Aug.) and I can't find anything regarding a L.A.T.C.H. system to fasten the seat to.

Is there a safe way to install the seat if this is not available?

Also, I googled this and saw some TSB recalls regarding this but couldn't find anything related to an 04 4Runner. Anyone have any information on this recall? Can't put my firstborn in jeopardy.

We put the child seat in the center, and use the latch rings next to the seat belt receivers for the bottom part (they are actually in the back part of the chair, and marked Latch).

You can always just go to a fire station, and they will put it in for you for free. You had better believe that a couple good sized firemen will have it nice and snug.

You shouldn't have any problems. My daughters Britax is a permanent addition to my 2004 4Runner.

Just a note. On the 2004 the LATCH system is for a car seat on either side--not the middle seat. If you are using the two middle LATCH hooks with a seat in the middle, this is not the correct usage for the hooks. Personally, I think it will work fine, but if you are placing the seat in the middle you should be using the seat belt. I had a certified car seat inspector (fancy term for fireman) install my seat and he said the biggest mistake people make is using the LATCH system in a middle seat that isn't designed for the middle seat.

I had the exact same experience. My daughter's Britax is mounted in the middle using the seatbelt.
