Installing CB Radio in my 4Runner

Long story short, I am a freight broker that has a 5th gen and would love to shoot the shit with some good ol' truckers to and from work as well as other drives.

So basically, I am a rookie and dont know what I am doing. My main concern is messing up wires when I try to connect the CB radio.

Does anybody have some guidance or instructions on how to do this? Are there previous posts on this exact topic? And help would be marvelous. Thanks!

Actually there are. We usually find this out by doing a search first. Check out the sticky on searching and you'll find plenty.

Check the CB installation in my build thread. You will need to find a different mounting location, but it will get you over 90% there.

What kind of radio are you putting in. Looks like something along the size of a Cobra 19? Lots of folks here go with the Cobra 75 or its Midland counterpart due to the fact that the "guts" are essentially contained in the mic itself simplifying mouting.

Not a lot of spots for a full size radio. I have a Connex that I desperately wanted to mount in the truck but just no room and wound up making a slip seat box for it for long solo trips and a small Midland for the rest of the time. Some guys have had luck mounting a Cobra 19 sized radio on the side of the center console. Success probably depends on your size and comfort when driving.

Lots of CB threads. Think there's even a sticky. Wiring radio is super easy, can even go with a 12volt plug. Antenna will require some thought but lots of options out there to choose. Just make sure to ground it well and use a SWR meter to tune it so you don't burn out your radio.
