What do the clips look like? I just bought a valance 2nd hand from someone.

I can't tell if there's clips or not. There's definitely clip things attached to the body....

got my valances and dropped them off to get line-x'd. i notice some of the tabs have some sort of "hook" any idea why or what the purpose is?

anyone have a close up of the inside where the tabs go. i have a tab thats cracked and will fix it but would like to see how flush it needs to be with the hole. also got em linex’d

ill try..but what i meant was some of the tabs are soft and some i have seen have more play than other due to the crack on the tabs. i have seen some photos on the forum where just the tabs are left but the valance is gone lol. i will try to strengthen them with a 3m duramix urethane adhesive.

so on the images the red is where its either lifted/cracked or has some seperation. green is what is holding the tabs still. my question is what is the width of the holes needed?
is it just the actually width of the tab ( YELLOW LINE) or the whole tab with the raised part(BLUE). just to know how much glue to start with when repairing it.

Don't get the tabs from Toyota Parts dealers. They sell them about 3$ / tab. You need about 30 of them. that's a lot of cash.

Any tips for using the dremel on the bumper to make sure it comes out ok and smooth? Painters tape on the opposite side (painted side)? Other tips? I know it's going to get covered, but want to make it look nice/stock as able even if it takes a little longer.

Does the valence hug pretty tight? Or does dirt sneak underneath it?

Painters tape on the inside so you can see where to stop cutting. Don’t try to make the holes too small and perfect, otherwise the valence will be too tight and won’t fit right. If that makes sense? It will when you test fit it and realize all the time you spent making the holes perfect was not time well spent because you will wind up enlarging most of the holes a little more. The only hole that is tricky and you should error on the side of making it too small is the horizontal one at the top and center of the rear bumper. If you cut it too big (or too high)you will be able to see it.

Dirt will get behind the valences, they don’t fit that tight.
Take a deep breath you can do it.

Thanks. Doesn't seem overly complicated and this thread is great, but anytime I'm cutting on something I want to make sure I've covered all my bases

Just an fyi, if you don't have a Dremel you don't need to go out and spend the money for one. A drill and a file work just fine. Use a drill bit a little smaller in diameter to the cut out, drill several holes to shape the cut out (doesn't need to be perfect, just stay within the area that needs to be cut out). Take your rasp file and clean up the cut out. I just happened to have a rasp file that fit the cutout perfectly. The cutouts were nice and straight. Valance fit perfectly and clipped into place nice and snug.

I'm sure you could also use a steak knife or any finely serrated knife as well, after using the drill to roughly form the cutout shape.

Seeing a drill mentioned reminds me, when I did mine I drilled the two ends of each slot then used the Dremel to connect the holes and clean them up.
