intake manifold gasket questions

What is your intake leaking? Coolant I'm assuming? If your talking about the lower intake be sure to replace the timing belt, all the coolant hose's, check, double check and triple check the water pipe under the intake, it is notorious for leaking and or developing holes in it.
Tell me more about what's leaking and I'll tell you everything I just went through on my engine install on my 91. I just got it running on Oct. 30th and after the first turn of the key it has purred like a kitten ever since, and I mean from the first crank of the starter.

Well, heck if all you have is a vacuum leak then your are one luck son of a gun.
The upper plenum is a breeze to remove! I would r&r that upper plenum, replace the heater hose's going to the pipe that flows under the intake, the two that connect coolant to the throttle body, of course a new upper plenum gasket, and I would buy new vacuum lines because I can amost bet that many of yours are old, dry rotted and leaking vacuum. Now, as for all the vacuum lines on the passenger side of the plenum I'd leave them all connected to the plenum, unbolt all the vacuum switching valves on the passenger inner fender by removing the two 10mm bolts holding the bracket holding the vsv's to the inner fender and remove the two vacuume lines to the power steering pump. It couldn't hurt to lable the lines you remove with masking tape and use a sharpie to lable where they go.
Just take your time, loosen up the bolts holding the plenum to the lower intake, remove the two nuts, remove the accel cable, kick down cable and cruise cable. unhook the tps and lift off the plenum.
I would use a razor blade to scrape off the old gasket from the upper and lower intakes, and I'd also take the time to clean the throttle body with tb cleaner and a tooth brush.
Oh, i'd also put paper towels in the intake runners to prevent gasket material from falling into the lower plenum, or upper if its stuck to the upper.
