DISCLAIMER, this is a temporary swap to see if I could do it. It is neither welded well nor structurally sufficient. Now that I know it will work I will find nice seats and do it right.
In trying to alleviate the discomfort I get while driving I decided to try a seat swap. I've read that 'Teg seats work well in the older t4r's. I picked up this junker seat to play with. I cut off the feet and fab'd up some new ones to the same dimension as the 4runner feet. I moved the mounting location forward a few inches, which was more than necessary.
It sits about an inch lower than the stock seats and feels much better, more like driving a car. My legs are now at a comfortable angle with good bolstering support.
The pics will tell the rest of the story. Now to find some nice grey cloth Teg seats and weld on proper frame feet.
