Interest in Custom built 4th gen V8 4.7 Doug Thorley Headers

My car was dropped off to them on Sunday.

I talked to Doug Thorley today and they told me they built one side of the headers already. They are still in the process of building the other side. Troy was telling me how poor the quality of our headers are and can see why they always crack. He even sent me a picture to show for it.

I will check back with them next week for more updates.

I believe the process will take 6 to 8 weeks from the date of mock up to their first production run. Since it is such tight quarters, they are going to make short headers at the moment.

I am assuming based on their current production run of headers that it will be in the ball park of $600 to 800. I think that price is fair for stainless steel, American made, high quality performance headers.

Thanks! That's definitely fair considering the crap OEM ones are more costly.

The 2003-2004 Is the pre VVTI engines. The exhaust manifolds are slightly different than the 2005-2009 exhaust manifolds.

Well since the work for 05-09 is Started might as well do 03-04. Right? Or is it Settle on PaceSetter?

Are these going to be bolt in or is there going to be other fabbing required? Are they going to have the cats and headers in one piece like the stock ones?

He wants to see how the 4.7 2005-2009 headers do prior to investing in 03-05. If the headers sell well, then he will consider doing the pre-VVTI engines.

These will not be bolt in, they will be welded on. Troy said" No cats will be included unfortunately. The state of California wont allow us to replace cats for any reason and have the finished product be carb legal. That is why we have to do a weld-on outlet out of the header".



He also shot me a picture of the mock up headers. Obviously these aren't the finished product. The ceramic coated version will be nice stuff but from the difference, they look a lot beefier.
