Interesting FYI-Copper Fuel Line Washers

Ordering the last of my parts at the dealer to put the 95 3.0 back together, when lo and behold, they tell me they can only order 2 of the copper washers for the fuel lines going to the fuel rails per day because there is a "campaign".

Don't have any information as to whether this is widely known, old news or whatever, just thought I would spread what I knew.

So if you have a leaky fuel system up top, bring it in, who knows.

i do know that the cold start injector leaking has caused many 4runner fires. it did in mine before i bought it.

Your guess is as good as mine, I asked the parts guys, who have been extremely awesome in finding little parts, if it was a recall, and he said "I guess
so". Picked mine up today, and they are no longer copper, actually silver in color, material is unknown. It took literally a week a get all the washers, ordering no more than 2 washers per day. They want to make sure all the dealerships have them in stock, giving them out a little at a time.

Like I said, if you smell some fuel, give'em a call.

This is just a guess, but keep in mind that japan is still trying to recover from the flood and the manufacturer is not running full speed. My guess is that this is not a recall, but a campaign to limit what a dealer orders to spread around the limited supplies until japan gets us to full manufacturing abilities.

I thought of that too, and it may or may not be true. Only thing I know is that we ordered many small parts from the warehouse, and their were no limitations on anything but this item. And the parts guy and I discussed how low the demand for fuel line washers was, no real need to limit supply unless their was going to be a need. And last, we both agreed that the washers had been redesigned, though we don't know when.
