Ok, so I have a couple questions, mainly concerning the interior of my 89 2.4 4runner.

First, fluid is leaking into the cab on the drivers side. I can post pics, but I think it's the break booster or the master cylinder. There is fluid all over the drivers side carpet, all the way down to the metal. I'm looking to replace all my carpet in the passenger area, so I need to fix this first.

I'm replacing the carpet as well as putting new seats in. Anyone have a good source for carpet? I can get it from Stock Interiors for $121, for all of the passenger area. It's cut to fit the 89, just curious if there were any places out there that had it cheaper.

I found two nice leather seats out of an Explorer today ($60), so I'm planning on using those. The drivers side is electric, so I'm planning on hooking that up as well. Any good write-ups? This part might be a little out of my league, I've never been good with wires... I'm also installing aftermarket seat heaters. That part I don't feel in over my head about, seems like it should be pretty simple. I'll probably piggy back on another fuse on the driver's side fusebox and run power from there. Same spot for the seat power?

While I have the carpet up and seats out, would anyone suggest doing anything else? At some point I'm planning on making my own center console, so I'm thinking of re-routeing the switches for the back window wiper, as well as the up/down switch for the back window too. I feel like the window lock switch is pointless, so I'm planning on just leaving the harness in there and taking out the switch. Anyone have great spots to put these?

Id recommend BMW seats from 96-06 from a 4 door.
The reasons for this are comfort, size quality and simplicity of installation.
Many seats are too wide or tall for our needs. BMW is perfect
Both tracks and mounting points are square and level with each other, so simple fabrication of brackets.
2 wires, brown ground red hot. I installed an inline 30 amp fuse at the battery ran a single hot wire to the passenger seat, and to the driver seat from there.
I made one quality ground to the body under the console. All relays and controls are in the seats.
So the key isn't needed to adjust seat position.
I got mine from a pick n pull for 35 each.
You will not regret the range of adjustment and comfort, and some have heat options, mine didnt

I already picked up my seats... Would've been good to know though, ha. Oh well. I think these ones are going to work pretty well.

Seat wiring should be run to a constant power source and not tapped off another fuse, as they tend to draw a lot of amperage. If you're adding an amp for your stereo, get a distribution block for your amp wire and run the seat's +12V to that point.

Should be quite easy to power up, as it should only need a +12 and ground to operate it. You may need to get the schematic of the car you got it from if you see a lot more than just a 2 wire connector for it. If the explorer had heated leather seats, you may have more wiring, and you'll need to install a relay to properly wire the heaters in.

As for sound control, Dynamat is great, but you can get a lot more of this stuff for less money and it works exactly the same as dynamat.

This stuff is actually slightly thicker than the dynamat, its what I used in my 5th gen for noise control.

Ok, awesome! I already have an amp set up for my subs, so I'll probably just hook into that. I'll post a pic of the seat wiring when I get home, it has more than just two wires, looked like there might be multiple controls for it. I wasn't able to find a seat heater control in the car, and it was pretty much in perfect condition, so I'm pretty confident that there isn't already heating inside, but I'm wrong a lot hah.

I was actually considering getting the FatMat, so that's good to hear.

I got mine from Rockauto.com. $106.00 for unpacked and $149.00 w/ mass backing. I'm very happy with it (mass backed).

Peel and Seal to DAMPEN panel vibration.
Then Thermal-Sonic insulation on firewall, tranny hump and floor above exhaust.
Then, for extra INSULATION, upholstery store sells closed-cell foam. I used anti-fatigue mat. Exercise mat/yoga mat are good, too.

How I did mine.

If you expect floor to get flooded, jut:
(1) Rubbery bedliner on primed metal,
(2) Top with sound insulating anti-fatigue mat trimmed for easy removal, draining and cleaning. (See how they drain Land Rovers in 4x4 trips in Australia, and other countries).
