Introducing the RAY10

Brushed copper Ray10s are up Aurora, not sure if that lines up with what you are looking for...

I just picked up a set of Dark Bronze SR8s :).

That was ridiculous. I sat there waiting, refreshed, put gunmetal Ray10s in my cart, 20 secs after in the cart, went to purchase and bam! Sold out, inventory gone. There's no way I could have made that purchase any faster.

Please Vin, put together a group buy. I don't care about a discount, I just want to make sure I can get some on the next shipment.

The Ray10s got absolutely hammered. About 1 hour and all that is left is dark bronze (and not sure if there's even a full 4 wheel set up on there or not).

I had originally planned on going that way but my wife didn't care for the bullet hole look (even though I kind of dig it).

Was on there at 601..had last second guess about bronze or gunmetal or copper. I had copper in my cart..then went back a minute later there is no inventory in the copper. 5 minutes later the other choices are gone. Major bummer. I was reading about folks on Tacomaworld being cart swiped while entering in their paypal info. I can't imagine how people were able to pay that quickly. I figured the stock would at least last an hour ha.

No biggie..I don't need the rims. I would prefer some machine lip in 17" either SR8s or Ray10s. More time to research.

I know there is a demand..but not much supply just a tad crazy.

It sure would be nice if Vin could just do a pre-order, pre-paid. Like I said, I was on there waiting, 20 mins before they were online. The second they came up, I loaded 5 in my cart. Within 20 seconds, they were gone. I was already logged into PayPal and everything.

I need new tires, but my current wheels are 18's. How can someone roll the dice and hope you can purchase wheels a few seconds faster than anyone else?

I'll repeat it, please do a group buy Vin, I don't need or want a discount. I'm more than happy to pay full price. I just want some new wheels.

I actually asked Vin about exactly that a few weeks ago over email and I guess he was at the point where managing pre-orders and waitlists had become a bit of a pain and with the extreme demand relative to his supply, seemed like he didn't want to manage this much any more and wanted to go more towards a first come first serve on the orders.

That being said, I can appreciate keeping the scarcity and it is legitimately neat having a set of wheels that someone cannot go down to Discount Tire and easily pick up, but it is a bit of an odd business model to not try to meet your demand a bit more (especially considering how reasonable his prices are).

Based on how quick stuff sold through today, he probably could have easily put out several times more inventory and sold the lion's share of it out quickly.

I'm honestly probably lucky since the dark bronze appears to be the least popular, but I really wanted something a little more unique and like the look on a black truck.

It's all just a marketing ploy. The next batch will $225 per wheel. That's how FUEL did it and now they're huge and still expensive. This was my 2nd attempt at buying a set. I'm starting to like my current wheels even more now

Yep, I asked Vin as well via email about doing a pre-order. I got the same response. This was back in late March. So, I've been waiting 6 weeks only to be denied. I've been reading about folks who missed the last batch, only to be left out of this latest one too.

I too can appreciate a rare bird, but it's honestly a pretty strange business model to follow. As a business owner myself, it makes me scratch my head. I can also understand the stress of running a business when you're in high demand. But, you're not allowing your customers a fair chance to purchase your product.

I would run a pre-order for 3 days. Make the announcement, take the orders, all prepaid, close the process. It still gives you control over money and inventory. It also makes your customers happy.

This "lottery" system is almost insulting.

If this is the case, which it might be, I suppose you can't blame him. But, I still believe in ethical business practices. I think blind siding your customers that way is a pretty poor way to treat a loyal fan base. Hopefully he won't follow in their footsteps.

I do like your wheels though. If Vin won't do a pre-order for the next batch, I'm going with FN Overlander's or maybe a set like your ProComps.

I'm still surprised that folks beat you out in 20 seconds? How were they able to do it that quickly? Even logging through PayPal quickly still takes more than that amount of time.

Here's to the next batch hopefully next month?

Looking forward to seeing pics :dancin: I think more and more bronze is the way to go with my MGM paint.

Yah, I was surprised too. I was reading elsewhere on their instagram (I don't have an account, but read the reaction of the buy) that this was happening to everyone.

I read, when the inventory went live, it went live minutes apart from each other all around the country. Here in Oregon, it went live at 6:02, elsewhere I was reading 6:00 and 6:03. Perhaps this was connection speed? Some other weird galactic paradigm? :alien:

I might hold out for another run, I don't know. I do like the bronze a lot, but I don't think it would go well with my silver.

That's interesting .. I kept refreshing and it went live for me at 602.

I'll definitely post some up. It may be late May until I get them mounted up since I'm probably going to wait for Discount Tire to do their inevitable Memorial Day sale to pick up some Falken WildPeak AT3Ws I believe. It seems silly not to wait it out at this point considering you can effectively almost get a free tire with the mail in rebates they do.

I thought about going gun metal with black (I like black wheels, but prefer some contrast on black cars), but ultimately thought the dark bronze, especially with the black simulated rim protector would look really good on black.

Machined and black wheels seem to be all the rage right now also and I prefer to be different :).

In prior customer experience, how long does it take to get these sent out? It was one day without confirmation, not unrealistic, however at this point.. The customer's were loyal, we paid, now we want our shit yesterday. Just comparing this experience to the 2 supporting mods I ordered yesterday for my wheels (TRD caps and lug nuts). Both shipped today.

I was ready and waiting like so many others. I wanted SR8 wheels and there was not even a single set added in the 16x8 variety. I got caught up and bought these. My rig is white, went with the dark bronze and TRD caps will go in the middle. Hoping it is unique and grows on me.

I received an order confirmation instantly, but mine didn't ship yesterday either as far as I know. Not going to worry about it too much as I believe I ready before that it usually takes Vin 2 or 3 days to ship everything out when these large volumes of orders come through.

A couple days is respectable enough. I had read otherwise elsewhere, but it's the internet so you never know. Hence why I asked prior customers not disgruntled customer #1 or #40 who didn't get wheels.

I'm sure he prints all labels this weekend and come Monday UPS has to say oh shit we gotta send several trucks to pick this up when they look ahead Sunday night. I'm in WA and made an appointment next weekend to get them mounted so long as they move by Tuesday/Wednesday I should be fine. I didn't buy them to look at them in boxes for long term lol.

I tried for a set of Dark Matte bronze Ray10s at 6:05 and they were all gone. I did however get a set of SR8's in Matte Bronze, so im still happy. Confirmation right away, but I don't think they have shipped yet.

I wanted SR8s in 16's as I mentioned earlier on here I believe. Either way, didn't see a single set turn black (available) in 16s. I probably would have settled for a different color then matte bronze myself. I have recently seen a few pics of the Ray wheels in matte bronze that made me feel better about them, I assume you got 17s?

Yes I ordered 17". Still nothing so far

Don't know about others, but got my ship notification this evening on my SR8s with anticipated arrival on Friday.

Going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for Discount Tire to do its Memorial Day sale.
