Gotta love the Crowsnest area! Lookin' forward to getting out there in 4 weeks for some exploring and fishin'!

Yup, the Crow seemed to be in pretty good shape so I imagine the rest of the water up there is good too. Just fyi, it looks like the FTR is still closed between Kananaskis and the Oldman because of the floods. Not sure if it'll be open again by the time you go.

Thanks for the heads up! We usually like to take the 532 over to the FTR and hit some favorite spots along the Livingstone and Oldman on the way down to Coleman. I'll have to check on that before heading out.

Intruder,
Can you run snow chains with your current setup or would the clearance between the rubber and the hard stuff be too small?

Would it have been better with the Duratracs?

I've never run chains so I couldn't say for sure, but I doubt I could. I had Duratracs and they were good for the first winter but that was it. If I were to get another set as winter tires I'd get them studded, but most likely I'll get the Geolandar winter tires or something similar.

That's unfortunate about the chains. There are place in Washington where chains are required regardless of vehicle or tires.

Keep in mind I'm running a pretty aggressive setup - 1.25" Spidertrax spacers, SCS wheels with more backspacing than stock wheels, plus tires with deep tread blocks. Someone running stock wheels, no spacers, and a regular AT tire might have better luck running chains - they just wouldn't work on my specific setup.

Holy crap, you just put Canada on my "must wheel/experience" list! Awesome shots and i love the way the 5th gens look built up.

Ive also never seen so many rigs on MTZs. What made you go with the MTR/k over the MTZ?

MTZ's are Canada-Certified! haha So many people run them up here cause they are a great M/T in the deep snow and do well in the mud/rocks. We do a lot of winter wheeling too so it's just a great tire. The MT/R Kevlars have been gaining popularity among us and I've seen them do quite well in all of the conditions that the MTZ's do good in. Marc just like to be a badass and look different then everyone else! haha

Thanks! It's pretty beautiful up here so the pictures kind of take themselves. Almost anywhere you point the camera you're going to get nice scenery. I was going back and forth between the MTZs and MTRs. It came down to being able to get a set of MTRs right away and at a lower price than the MTZs. I also like the kevlar sidewalls since we get a lot of sharp rocks and pokey tree branches on the trails up here. I'm pretty happy with them. There were a few spots on the local trails that I'd need to use ATRAC or the locker to get through when I was running Duratracs but with the MTRs I can go through those spots fully open because of the better traction.

If you mean the one that's partially colour matched I'm pretty sure it's an All Pro, but I couldn't tell you which one specifically.
