The pictures of your truck almost make me like the ARB better than the Shrockworks...

I did consider the Shrockworks bumper but I wasn't willing to wait 6-8 months for it. The ARB arrived less than a week after I ordered it. I also like to know that my airbags will deploy when they're supposed to and ARB is the only bumper I'm aware of that's airbag approved.

ARB's airbag compatibility means "the vehicle's crush rate and air bag triggering is not altered" (Bull Bars/Bumpers & Tire Carriers). I think ARB is trying to make sure the air bag NOT deployed when the vehicle gets a small/medium front hit, whereas Shrockworks one may cause the air bag deployed prematurely.

Marc, does ARB bumper keep this crush absorber?


I guess Shrockworks bumper removes this absorber so it can be made not sticking out as ARB's.

You remove the stock ones but ARB includes their own crush cans as part of the bumper mount onto the frame. Just did a quick check and unfortunately I don't have any pics of them from the install.

My friend and I did some camping and mild wheeling on the weekend. He used to drive the really nice built-up silver 3rd gen that's in a lot of my pics, but unfortunately it was totalled after he was hit by a drunk driver. Luckily even after rolling over a couple of times he was able to walk away with just a bruised shoulder. After trying unsuccessfully to find another minty 3rd gen, he ended up buying a 4th gen which is still bone stock. We still had tons of fun and he was still able to get through everything by choosing his lines properly.

Like I said, this mountain was heavily mined and here you can see some of the strip mining they did. I love being able to see all the strata in the rock.

I did a little off roading this weekend although I had woods within inches of the vehicle the whole way. You would need a quadcopter with a gopro to get pics like yours from where I was! Nice as usual [MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION]!

It's in Crowsnest. The trail is called Grassy Loop or Grassy Mountain depending on who you talk to. It's pretty close to the remains of the mining town of Lille since that's where they mined.

It's without a doubt my favourite place to wheel and camp. Tons of fun to wheel there in the winter too...

Yup, I'm a strong believer in Tread Lightly principles. Respected access = open access is something we see a lot up here too with entire areas getting shut down because of mud bogging and that sort of thing. I'm also a fly fisher, so it's a real balance for me between enjoying wheeling and protecting habitat. When I started wheeling some of my fly fishing friends stopped talking to me because they were convinced all off roading is bogging and driving up and down riverbeds. Tread Lightly gives me something to point to as responsible wheeling for people like that.

They seemed to do ok but we didn't get into anything overly technical and other than one logging road didn't see any mud. I think he's planning on going with MTRs like he had on his 3rd gen once he gets his lift.
