What about Proclips? Little pricey but very solid. Ran the USB cable down the air vent and into the glove box. It plugs into my head unit and charges/uses ipod controls. picture shows the mounting location. I have mine on the right center vent. Rock solid works great!

They also have other mounting spots. You attach the phone holder you choose to the mounting point.

I can upload pictures of my setup if your interested.

I used Proclip for my GPS, ran wire through air vent and into glove box. It's a very clean installation and it doesn't block any of the windshield. I drive a lot in California, where suction mounts are illegal (as is most everything else).

Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for Cell Phones and GPS Devices: GPS & Navigation

I posted the video above (not mine, btw) since the HAZARD light button and the vents are very close to where ours are.

I have this mount for my Razr Maxx and am pretty happy with it. Its easy to take off, and while its on, I can still listen to my cd's.

I like this, I can't imagine how this would work for the LE's, due to the navigations screen. Can you post up a picture?

I have a TE. No factory navigation, but I do have an aftermarket pioneer. The screen is definately blocked, but personally, I don't mind it. I can use the steering wheel controls for most functions

I got the imagnet mount, and it is awesome!

Amazon.com: iMagnet Cradle-less Magnetic Mount with Quick-snap Technology, Smartphone Car Windshield Dashboard Universal Holder: Cell Phones & Accessories

It has a sticky suction cup that mounts to the window, and comes with 3 metal plates, with 3m adhesive tape on the back. you can just stick the to the inside of your phone case, and the magnet on the mount holds it into place. Works really well!

Here is a pic of mine:

Also, for all of those who complain about the 4runners MPGs... check that out ^ 60MPG yo! Thats better then a prius...pretty good for a 4700lb vehicle with at 4.0L with the aerodynamics of a brick!

I use a ProClip on the vent. Yes, it's pricey but well made, sturdy, easy to use and sits in a good position to see the screen without having to look down. Also frees up my cup holder!

I have a CD slot universal mount I got off Amazon and it works but the phone bounces on every tiny bump on the road and I just went back to using my old suction cup window mount.

Charging iPhone mount via cigarette lighter, find it on eBay for $20. Hold my iPhone 5 along with my work iPhone 6 no problem. You can still use it while driving because its low and not bait like the higher placed ones.

In California any device can't be mounted where it is exposed to sun (anywhere on the top of dash or mounted to windshield) - temperature kills the device very fast. I ended up with mounting my phone just in front of shift lever using cap holder mount (I don't need the front cap holder as I don't drink and drive).

That place is good not only because "the sun does not shine there", but also the screen can be turned that way it does not have a sun glare. And it is easy to aim at the right buttons when my palm is resting on the shift lever. The only drawback is that I would have to look down to read the screen, so I don't look down when I'm in the running traffic - not worth it.
