iPod BlitzSafe input installed

I received the BlitzSafe Aux Input the other day. Best Buy installed it for $52 total. In order to get the mini input to reach back to the armrest, I had another cable installed at the same time. So now I have the iPod input wire in the small coin tray in front of the armrest.

I have the JBL system with the single disk player in my 2004 4Runner. When I select the CD button the radio goes first to the CD I have inside the unit. A second push of the button enables the Aux In, the same way it would enable a CD changer.

So, the BlitzSafe Aux In indeed works with the JBL system. The sound is MUCH better than the crappy cassette input.

The BlitzSafe was $120 delivered. The additional cable (mini to RCA) was $14. Thus the total was $186. Fun comes at a price.

BTW: Tomorrow I will post photos of my new light bar and LightForce 170s.

1) Backside of the unit.
2) PITA as he removed a LOT of plastic to do the job. However, the $47+tax was their lowest install price.

Don't know. BlitxSafe said that it is supposed to work with all of the new Toyota radios.

This is very cool. I have been putting off buying an ipod until something was figured out. Now I just need to see if it will work with the 6 disc in-dash changer.

The connection was magic. I took the 4Runner to Best Buy and the lead for the iPod appeared in the coin tray. There was probably a wand involved. The installer had a funny looking hat. All I know is that it works.

I do have to turn the iPod volume all the way up to get the volume to where the head unit can do the rest. The sound levels and quality are fine. Much better than the cassette thing which was a PITA.

Contrary to a previous posting, it appears that the Blitzsafe auxilliary audio input DOES support the indash 6-CD changer. From the site:

"The adapter is compatible with 2003 - 2004 Toyota vehicles that has the new smaller style 12-pin connector in the rear of the radio. This device IS compatible with Toyotas having the AM/FM/6-disc INDASH changer. NOT compatible with factory navigation system. Your vehicle must be equipped with a radio that has CD changer controls."

I might have to start looking at iPods!

I am either going to get an ipod (preferred) or an XM radio. I am only getting the ipod if I can get it hard wired to the stereo through the BlitzSafe.

The iPod allows me to listen to any of my favorite thousands of songs. In addition I have subscribed to Audible.com which for $20/month allows me to download 2 books per month to the iPod. I'll tell you, driving long distances goes too quick when listening to a good book. The readers of these unabridged books are way better readers than I am. I often get to my destination wishing I still had farther to go. I listen to iPod music while in town. With the sunroof and rear window open I still use the in-the-ear Sony earphones. Little wind noise, lots of fresh air, and great music.

iPod v. XM? Well it depends on what you consider most important. I know what I like, and own it already - music wise. I don't want to wait for any radio station to get around to what I want to hear.

Yes, it is a little bother to hide the iPod when I am out of the 4Runner. But it is a quick hide in the center storage.

Does anyone know if the PAC AUX-POD Auxiliary Input will work in a stock '03? I'd like to be able to use the steering wheel controls to operate the IPod. I'd like to hook it up myself, but I'm not very good at this kind of stuff.
