iPod integration-Dice any good?

Hello All, I have a 2003 stock 4Runner with a single CD player (non JBL). I am finally ready to get some iPod integration going. I have read all about the Blitzsafe, the DICE, and the PIE. But which one is best? I do have stearing wheel controls, and would like to continue to have them. I know the DICE allows me to do this, but is it any good? Does it lock up and have a mind of its own? Anyone like a particular one? Any input would be great! Thanks.

I have not installed mine yet as I am in the midst of a head unit change and other major mods. I do know it's well made and others here have used them. I just wanted to throw that in the ring.

I have the Peripheral one in my 04 and it works great. It does work with the steering wheel controls because I had it in my Tundra before that. It does not display the text on the radio though. I might be selling it soon because Im upgrading my HU and wont need it. Let me know if your interested.

I have a Dice Electronics iPod interface and i like it. I used it with the JBL Synthesis audio unit in my 2006 4Runner as well as the nav unit in my 2008 4Runner. It depends on the generation of iPod you have as to how it works. The latest iPod locks out being able to control from the Dice and the iPod - you can do one or the other, but not both, so I opted to control it directly from the iPod.

Hello,
I have the USA SPEC device. Sounds great, good control of the IPOD from the radio. Can control 6 playlists, play shuffle, etc.
Just return it for warranty. After some interactions with the IPOD through the radio, the device "hang" the radio and I was unable to change the playlist, song, folder, etc. Only way to recover is unplugging the device from the radio..
I wish the replacement unit works. I will let you know.

I would buy the DICE again. The newest module (I had many problems with the earlier one) has been great, maybe locking up 1x year.

I use the steering wheel controls, and like the text on the HU. If I want, I can also directly control from the ipod.

I have jbl 10 spkr, everything else still works as advertised.

USA Spec works great! I have everything I want, and I love the sound quality. Pics coming soon. How did you guys mount your box? Mine is currently sitting in the glove box. I would hate to drill, and would like to use double sided tape.

Hi,

mine is in the center console. Just one hole drilled to pass the cable. Device is mounted with double sided velcro. I can remove it easily to swith from IPOD mode to remote mode.

I look forward testing the replacement unit. I will receive the new version. Hope this time works fine.
