Ipod USB "Error 3" Issue - Resolved?? (non Nav)

I know many of you including myself have been getting intermittent errors while your iPod is plugged into the USB in the glovebox such as Error 3 or Error 5. I may have found a solution.... It has worked for the last few days where usually, I would have several error messages in a single day.

Sooo... there is a play/pause button on the stereo (non nav) which I never really paid attention to. When I hit the pause button while listening to the iPod BEFORE turning off the ignition, the iPod has consistently started playing when I start up the car again... no error!

I have the latest edition Nano iPod and it is fully updated. I will continue with this method and let y'all know if it is a real solution.

Good Luck

Care to show a pic? Several people have said there isn't one. (They may be talking about the Nav unit though.)

I have that pause button (99% sure but will check tonight :)). If I recall try the following.

Press it while using the ipod......works as "advertised" pauses the music. Now try it again - should obviously play the music right. I mean since cassete decks were popular that is how a play / pause button works.

Apparently not in Japan.........

NON Nav unit as well - limited

I dont know about the NAV unit, but mine has a Play/Pause button that I did not even notice until I started trying to figure out the "Error 3" problem. So far so good... when I hit the pause button while its playing BEFORE I shut off the ignition, the iPod starts right back up again when I start the car.... no ERROR 3/5 message.

Crossing my fingers.

Great info! This has been driving Mrs. Muddle and I crazy over the past fews weeks. I'll try this out and report back.

Edit: Oh gosh.. search function = necro post
