hey guys im new here im 17 my name is Hilton and ive been upgrading a VERY clean no rust! 89 4runner i got i sold one of my guitars to be able to afford to do my supin up to it, the engine part they did right before i go it. my step moms dad owns a shop and bought it for cheap and fixed up everything and i traded my 89 GMC siarra for it. i thought the would be ALOT better and its great i LOVE IT! The whole top part of the car, engine, and everything new head gaskets have been redone and fixed/polished and checked out at a machine shop, whole top of the engine has been rebuilt, new clutch, alternator, and alot of other work too much to list. and now runs perfectly and flawlessly now! its a 5 speed stick shift runner, in the pictures i put up below you can see i added the eight ball shift knob lol. the interier IS VERY clean and the car has virtually no rust. the outside paint is faded and my dad is going to pull out $1000 dollars (and were not rich so were gonna have to work for it haha) for macco to get a legit paint job. im getting it painted close to ferrari red. ALL controls on this thing work except the cruise control. Its got 2 aftermarket switchs one does a security thing you can arm the car i still dont know exactly what it does. and the other mght be a nitrous switch (just kidding) i dont know lol, i havent figured out what it does yet. i put alot of money in his thing in 2 weeks time lol

i was going to do the dual pipe at end only mine would sit right where my step bumper was int he hole but i canceled that and am making a custom bumper but they sound good...

Yea man that's cool, I would love to see pictures of your bumper when it's done, and Im also hoping this exhaust upgrade will not only look cool by be good for performance and sound, do you think it will improve those any?

If you do a Maaco paint job make sure you dewax the truck yourself first. It would be even better if you sand it yourself with 400 grit sandpaper and take off as much trim as you can. I don't think they will do a very good color change for $1000. You will still have engine compartment, door sills, rear gate inside in blue. And when you take the hardtop off there will be blue sections mocking you. Believe me I know. I had a VW painted red from white when I was 16 and was so disgusted I sold it about a year later. That's a great color blue, just go with that color!

That $1000 is for the door jams and im going to ask about the trunk part and the engine compartment is not a big deal because it's almost black in color, the only part I'm concerned about is the inside under the carpet but I plan on rhino flooring it anyway, but yea with the top off I never thought about that all have to ask them good idea

Nice older truck but lose the Streetglow sticker since those are as bad as an APC sticker meaning those were ricey back in the '90s but overall you got a nice start.

If you do that make sure its a smooth finish they put on there. I have the Real Rhino Liner on my floor board from the front to the back. Let me give you some advice. Make sure they POR-15 first or else its gonna rust. I pulled up the rhino under the drivers side panel and it was rusted BAD!!!! I will get some pics. My floor board has been done for about 6 years.

As for the lip where the top sits. I would suggest anyone who takes their top on and off have this done. It makes a nice seal and protects the lip while removing and installing the top.

Yea I'd like to see some pics of that and whats por-15? Yea I thought the spray on bedliner would be a good idea for the lip

por15 is a rust killer. Best one on the market. goes on like paint. Before I sprayed the outside of me truck with bedliner I por-15 the complete outside and the inside of the quater panels. I used por15 where there was no rhino liner

So it's like a clear chemical spray on and it doesn't hurt paint?

Ok here's how it is maaan, this by no means offensive towards anybody here I see so called red necks with their "bad boy" or other crazy names decals on their front windshield, that I think are re****ed, so why mock mine? It's the name on the company that produced my lights, if you want people to feel welcome on this forum and this goes for alot of you chill out bros and hoes lol and embrace everones ideas or mods, or at least respect them, and thanks for the por15 advice man that will probably be needed in the future,

This is a guys runner at yotatech i dont know who. I want mine to look like this, when i get the new red finish I'm getting (hopefully soon)I was gonna go with a black top on the convertible part, but I saw this and was like this looks amazing I gotta have it lol

Hey dudes I got my 4runner and one of the first things I noticed was the rusty windshield wiper arms and it bothered me i went to lowes and bought 2 cans of black automotive rustolium spray paint in black and 1 white auto motive primer.I used a wire brush on the front 2 to remove rust and painted them black I did a bad job. Then today I got new windshild wiper blades for the front and said I might as well redo all the windshield wiper arms with white spray paint and white primer. I even did the rear windshield wiper arm and they look fantastic in white. and very smooth finish at that beats the heaKl out of rusty arms! I'll take some pics in 30min haven't put them own yet though.

I'm a bit confused as to why you are looking for so many ways to mod your 4runner, when the one that you like the best is completely stock. The red one is beautiful, I agree. If you want yours to look like that, I'm afraid you're heading in the wrong direction.
