Is it me or...

Has there been less people on? It seems kinda dead on the forum lately but it could just be me. Where are my fellow 3rd geners at?

I'd like to become one but need advice

I am in the process of looking at two 4runners and need advice. The first one is closer and is a 99 limited E-Locker with 112K miles looks very clean but is from canada and has no service records. $6K

The other is a 99 SR5 with 190K miles 4 hours away but is a 5 speed and is owned by a mechanic from california. The 4runner also has body armor all over rear bumber, front grill and underbody amor a 4" lift and newer tires. He has also changed all the fluids and replaced rear diff seals. $5200 OBO

Which 4runner is the better buy? I want sothing that will have a relativly low startup cost and last me a long time. It will be used for my family on vacations but I wont be rock climbing or anything extreme.

Thanks

Just so many new threads for easily searchable questions lately… I'm always lurking though.

This guy texted me yesterday saying his buddy had a stock brush guard for sale that would look awesome and work great on my 4runner… lol I face-palmed

Just waiting for you buy and install the supercharger. Then people will flock back to the board like animals boarding Noah's ark.

I will say that there have been more people exiting stage left in lieu of their rigs just getting older with time, thus moving on to something newer.

Man it would look good on your truck, and paint it pink! Haha do you even know the guy?

It has been quiet and that is coming from a guy who doesn't post much!

Speaking of where the 3rd geners are at, I had a guy in a silver 3rd gen SR5 follow me almost all the way home the other day. I couldn't help, but feel a sense of camaraderie with the guy. No idea who it was or if they are even on here. Whenever I see another 3rd gen though, I'm always thinking "yeah, there is someone else who gets it!" My wife thinks I am a loonie.

Ok. There is my contribution to the quietness!

Im not very well known on these forums but I love to read stuff for my 3rd gen :) im about to buy a sub so I can finally go wub wub wub!

You Canadians are all so nice. I might move up there when I retire haha.

SAS AND Brushgard???? Ohhhhh yeahhhhh! That would be one sick runner!

My attendance here ebbs and flows with work. I work in video production, so if I'm leaning heavy at the time towards the editing, odds are that I'll be around a lot.

I'm new here so I can't compare now to other times but compared to the other car forum I'm on (NSXPRIME) this forum is very busy.

I agree Dirtyfingers. There has been a real lack of meaty content it seems. A lot of the same newbie questions, a lot of "I'm thinking about buying" threads. Still an amazing collection of great info, but it all seems older. The guys with the great 4runners are about all modded out, and I haven't seen anything new coming up that catches my eye. Still a great forum and all members I have interacted with have been top notch!!! I wish I had some meat to post, but like others mentioned, I am kind of side lined with the holiday/tax time blues, not to mentioned I just moved 3 states over... I hope I can contribute some good stuff to my build thread soon!

I hear you man haha, but I'm just sayin I've been with this forum a little while, not quite as long as I'd like to be and it just seems it's getting redundant. But everyone it seems had a 4runner and idk I love this forum nonetheless.

Been wondering the same thing myself recently; seems a lot of guys who were doing some big builds aren’t on here so much anymore. When I first stumbled upon this site I was on it like everyday while in Japan. It was a damn refuge for me since I hated where I was in the Pan; everyday something new on the 3rd gen thread; to go a whole day without lurking was blasphemy. Now it’s more like get to it when I can, which is still good but not like before. In my case I’m projecting a May wrap up of my build so hopefully there will be some excitement to share. Up next are my JDM fenders, lbjs and 1” bl. Also, trying to set a meetup here in GA for Memorial Day weekend. All in all maybe come spring we’ll see more activity on the 3rd gen forum when the flurry of tax refund mods start.

A part of me wonders if the 4th gen isn’t becoming the new 3rd gen: affordable, mods a plenty available and reliable as hell. Still not sold on them but…

You can only answer the "Why is my MPG so bad?" threads so many times, before you no longer have the inclination to reply with the same info over and over again.

:)
