Is it possible to add TRD PRO suspension?

I thought I read somewhere hear that we could add the TRD PRO suspension to an SR5 or Trail addition? I'm not seeing this on the TOYOTA Website. Can you order this as a factory option to a trail sr5 premium with KDSS?

They can not be added via the toyota website as a factory option. Your dealer should be able to order them and have them installed but this is no different then having the dealer order and install a kit from RadFlo or Icon. Likely not the most cost effective option (having dealer do the work)

Seems it will be a dealership-installed option at some point in time: TRD - Part Detail
 
There is nothing special about the Trd pro suspension, nothing at all. You'd be throwing money away

I think there are a couple guys in the lifted thread that added it to their trucks. Look there and you could probably PM them for info.
 
Yes... You can.

I may be interested in either the TRD Pro suspension or the new Bilstein 6112 suspension offering. They may be the same or really close. There are some youtube vids floating around from Sema on the 6112, check them out.

The Bilstein 5100 series is good and adjustable but the 6112, slated for January, is larger... that means it may be more robust and handle off road running better? Not sure but I like larger and more robust for some of my Colorado trails.

I looked into it and thought about it but the lack of height adjustment and the softer spring rate turned me off. I already have Budbuilt sliders and would eventually like to get the SS bumper, winch and a roof rack. Not sure how the softer spring rate that the TRDP COs (and the BTS Bilsteins) use would work with all that. I went with Icon COs, Camburg UCAs, and SAW rear coils. I probably spent around the same amount, but so far, I feel like I bought better products (not saying the TRD stuff is crap in anyway) for me. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll see if my decision is right.
 
you did buy better products, and i humbly say that even though i heavily dislike ICON's stuff. like i said before - if you buy the TRD pro suspension to replace your stock stuff, you just threw money away. you can get better aftermarket stuff for the same price

Not to get off topic but why do you dislike Icon stuff? You can PM this to me so we keep on topic here.

their valving system is extremely complex, the like of which a trained icon diagnostician would likely only be able to alter or rebuild, and they use degressive instead of progressive valving. the faster you go, the softer the shock gets - where as every other company like Fox, King, SAW etc all use progressive valving. softer to start and it progressively gets firmer the faster you go, which is what you need. and they have established themselves as a "bro" company. every time i see ICON stuff I'm waiting for the person running them to refer to me only as bro.

The local off-road shop that did my ICON install said they rebuild them in house.
 
and i guarantee they're trained to do it too. progressive shocks can be valved the same way as digressive, a lot more simply

ICON shocks can be easily and affordably rebuilt in a few hours. Your point Bro? :wow:

Alright, nobody is throwing their money away if they order TRD Pro suspension components. Why? Well, one thing is the warranty and the guarantee it will work with the existing OEM components. How much is that worth? Also the local Toyota garage can service it. No need to send it out to get rebuilt or a specialty shop to do it.

I get what you are saying. You can buy, in your minds, higher quality components for the same price. Not everyone thinks like you do though. Case in point: FJ | Models | ICON
These guys will spend 175 large for a 50 year old truck to go out and rock crawl. Are they spending too much? Should they have just get a 4Runner with good components?

Well the ID of the tube is 46mm so unless the shock housing is 3/4" think then I don't think they are 2.5" OD. They are bigger then stock but not that big. ;)

And it's the amount of lift that can be used with these shocks not what they provide. Meaning you can use up to a 2" lift spring in the rear with these shocks.
