is my clutch slave cylinder bad

hey guys the ole 1996 yota left me stuck today. i got under it and checked it out and whats going on is when you press in the clutch the slave cylinder is going in but its slowly leaking back out like your letting off the clutch even when your not. would you think the slave cylinder is bad?

It can be clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Some where the fluid pressure is leaking. You can quickly check the slave cylinder leak by slowly opening the dust boot. CAUTION: Don't get your head/eye right under the slave cylinder when you are going to do this.

My car is stick and I keep an extra set of hydraulic pumps/cylinders just in case.

no fluid around slave probably master huh

there was no fluid around the slave so its probably the master cylinder huh. well its got 202,000 miles so ill just change em both to be sure.

Ok, so no fluid inside the dust shield in the slave? Then probably it is the master pump.

Yes, it is time. Also check the flexible hose (if there is any). Replace that too for a piece of mind.

Don't forget to bleed the system.

Replaced both and all good man bleeding that slave was a pain in the butt. Had a good friend tell me to get a hose and put it over the bleeder then put it in a cup of brake fluid and it would be easier. I used a bojangles cup and the hose went in the straw hole only took 10 minutes that way working great.
