Is there a factory installed trailer wiring harness in 5th gen?

Tekonsha P3

What brand did you buy, the Tekonsha P2 and P3 do not have to be mounted level and can mounted with Velcro just about anywhere.

When installing the P3, did you use the Toyota harness that came in a kit with the P3, and if so, did you ground the unit using the second ground wire with the eye (round) ground connector? I figured the stock harness and adapter contained the ground already, and wasn't sure of the reasoning to use a secondary ground.

Exactly where I put mine. And when you don't need pull loose from the Velcro and put it away.

Where's the plug?

It's an old post but I can't seem to find the plug either. I have the plugs in the bumper for the lights but no wiring for the brake. I bought my 4Runner used and it didn't come with the pigtail thing but I thought I'd at least have the stuff under the dash. Any thoughts? Hopefully my pictures worked.

Plug should be taped to main harness behind BCM pictured, just follow harness upward and it should be there.

No need to purchase pigtail from Toyota, generally brake controller manufactures offer adapters that are plug & play. Here's one example for 2010-2013 4Runners from Hopkins........

You haven't mentioned what year your truck is, but if you have a 2014 or newer, there was a change which required a diode inline, covered in this thread.........

Thanks!. I have been feeling around under there after seeing these picture and all I could find was the shrink wrapped black plastic stuff in that area. I'll have to check it out again. Thanks again. I have a 2010 SR5 and sadly it's being put on a ship today so I can take it with me to Hawaii where we're moving. I just like to know what and where everything is at on my vehicles. Thanks again.

Trailer Brake Control Mounting in-dash

Hi Guys,
I saw a post at some point where a guy hd taken off the fron of his center dash and drilled holes to install his trailer brake control in the little cubby hole. I can't rediscover that thread...
Can anybody help me find that thread, or help me to find instructions for how to remove the front of center dash below the radio?

Yes. There are several 10mm or maybe 12mm bolts next to the Toyota plug. Just unbolt one and attach the ground eyelet there.
