Is there a TSB for squeaky seats on the 2014/2015 seats?

I also took my seat out over the weekend and wedged thick felt all around the area in question. So far, all is quiet.

PS - Those 2 small springs in the airbag wiring harness were a nice surprise. I said oh crap when I saw them fall out, but it was pretty self explanatory once I got a good look at the plug.

Sorry to unbury an old thread, but I'm sad to report this is a problem with the 2016 4Runner also. I've had mine for all of two days and the driver seat has started to squeak. Didn't notice it until I went over a couple of speed bumps. It's going to be real annoying when I take it off-road.

Calling the dealership on Monday. :frusty:

I had this exact thing happen on my '16 TEP as well. I took it in to the dealership and they added "extra padding" to the seat and it's been all quiet for now. Hopefully they used good thick padding and it stays that way.

The squeaking kept getting worse the colder it got here. :mad2: Right now, it's 15 below with wind chill. Finally was able to make it into the Dealership and had them repair the issue. The Repair Notes were as follows:

CAUSE: Tech found squeaking noise coming from lower left rear of seat area and seat cushion shield rubbing on seat frame.

Tech removed seat and applied sound insulating foam to rear lower seat cushion side. Reinstalled seat and found noise was also coming from left rear lower portion of seat frame cushion shield. Removed seat and replaced lower left rear seat shield. Noise was eliminated after repair.

The repair took about an hour and a half. I've had it for a day and so far the fix has eliminated the issue.

the TSB for the seats was for a popping/creaking and it was really something you could feel in your lower back more than you actually heard it. it felt like the seat-back was crunching under your weight.

Mine does this and it is maddening!

Just went in for the same thing today. Exactly the same thing as the videos posted. The ordered the following rail assembly but it feels like it's coming from much higher.

Do you have the seat adjusted all the way back? I get the squeek if I crank back the electric seat too far (I'm 6'4"...). If I ease up on it a tiny bit, the squeek goes away.

Same. Mine also rocks slightly.

Had the same issue with a 2003 Tacoma. It was at the dealer 5 times for it. They replaced everything, which fixed it for about 3 days.

don't want to go through that with the 4-runner.

Suspect some strategically placed lithium grease would help a bit, but I won['t have time to pull my seat out for a while.

I have a 2016 Limited that I just took delivery of 3 weeks ago, 650 miles on it right now.

The temp in Pittsburgh just dropped like a rock (from 70 to 20) and I found this squeak yesterday morning. It sounded like a 1970s stationwagon going over bumps, I thought a bracket broke in the seat. The sound would go away once the temperature increased in the truck. I had the seat heater on setting 2.

It was cold again (25F) this morning, I set the seat heater to setting 1 this time. This time the sound appeared but just briefly before disappearing. I believe the sound was less severe because the thermal expansion was not occurring as quickly this time, so everything had a chance to re-expand together.

Due to that, its very easy to tell that (as mentioned above), this is a thermal expansion problem. Mine is coming from the right side, and when I move my back on the backrest or hit a bump, I can make it squeak (but only during the time when squeaking is normal). I will have to take a look one evening, but pinpointing this in the spring is going to be difficult. I might be stuck waiting till next fall for a time in which I can readily recreate the sound so either I can find it, or let the dealership putzs have a go at it.

However, won't lie, glad to see I'm not the only person deal with this.

Went back in when the rail replacement didnt work. This time they said there was a bad weld and replaced these parts and there is absolutely no noise or squeak but its only day 1.
