sidenote: it'll be killer to have your 4th gen AND a 1st gen! I had an 05 sport till i wrapped it around a tree sans insurance (oops) :-\, and at that time i was wanting to add a 1st gen to my collection. The 4th gens are VERY smooth and capable vehicles, gotta love awd + v8!

This does not make sense. Its an IFS truck with a soild rear axle, meaning the added leaf in should be in the rear, and the A arm drop brackets are the front.

Besides that, looks good!

Since everyone else is judging on looks, I'll go the realistic route.
Value depends a lot on where you are, and you didn't say where that is.
Also will it pass safety inspection and emissions testing, etc.
Has it been regeared to match the 33" tires?
When was the timing chain replaced? at 198K it makes a difference, as it would be ready for one now (they're typically good for 100K)

I am looking for realistic answers so thanks. He bought it at 127k and now it has 198k so it's been done somewhere between then.

Truck is located in Maryland.

Won't pass safety due to the windshield and probably the tires although I have a buddy who can pass me. He said everything passed in June 2009 as far as safety and emissions go.

I thought that vehicles over 25 years old didn't need emissions test? From DMV website below.

Since this is an 86 the effective date would be 1/1/2011.

2.Motor vehicles exempted from emissions inspections include:

•Motorcycles
•Gasoline powered passenger or property carrying vehicles with a model year that is more than 25 years old before January 1 of the current calendar year.

As an example, vehicles with a model year of 1984 are exempt from emissions on or after January 1, 2009; vehicles with a model year of 1985 will be exempt from emissions on or after January 1, 2010.

I test drove it and it was suprisingly good but had some doubts because the interior didn't have carpet or door panels. I thought about it some more and those parts are easily replaceable.

No idea on the re-gearing. I'd have to check his service records.

What was the mileage? I am not looking for a big project but rather something that just needs a little TLC and a few hundred bucks, not a few thousand.
