@mitre: yea it's still a party town but I just don't have enough time for all that with my course work + lab work.

@MikeInNH: with a solid undergrad work at MIT, she can go anywhere. One of my professor here is also a Havard graduate.

I hear you. When I was getting my BS in mechanical engineering, it didn't leave much time but I tried to get out once in a while.

I got the price down to $17500 and I'm going to buy it. Still feel like I am paying a little too much (probably ($500 - $700) but don't feel like spending more time looking. The seller probably feels the same. He really wanted at least 18k for it but oh well, we will just split the difference. He did take care of the car, oil change and services all done at the dealer and on time with records to show.

Don't get an Escape...

I agree. Saw too many transmission issues with them. I think their best years (least amount of issues) were 2004 and 2007. Was going to buy a new Escape since they are really inexpensive (XLT, 4WD, with moonroof was around $29K, this includes taxes and registration).

But, I actually believe I can get 100,000 miles (total miles 180k) more on this 4runner before I can get 100,000miles on an Escape without having major problems. Is this ridiculous or what?
