Is this supposed to have a cover?

I just had my transmission fluid changed and a SuperCooler installed. I looked under the front of the engine trying to locate an oil leak and I noticed this. What is it and should it have a cover?

That's your flywheel/torque converter, and yes it needs a cover.

Im gathering its the flywheel. Being that its Sunday, the shop is closed and I cant raise any hell

Do you think it was necessary to take off to install the SuperCooler or the tranny fluid change? Im wondering if it fell off or the numbnuts didnt put it back on

I don't see why. You need to remove it to separate trans from engine, and not for much else. It's tough for it to fall off, too. Headscratcher...

That said, it hasn't been missing long. In a week it will accumulate road crud and surfaces won't be that bright.

What the ****? It's just sitting like that?! :twitch: I'd go ape shit on whoever worked on your vehicle and not run it anymore and make them either work on it where you live or tow it to their shop. Why you would need to remove that section of the tranny to install a cooler nowhere near it is beyond me.

Maybe they noticed the oil dripping down and were checking into a possible rear main seal leak. Then they forgot to tell you and forgot to put the cover back on..??
