Decided to go for both the mods today. Dont mind the dirty engine I had a little fun with her the other day.

I am getting ready to do the same mods...

Did you eliminate the stock 90 elbow from your air box in the process?

Are you happy with the power gained?

How about the intake sound level?

Just wondering what to look forward to...I am adding a K&N filter at the same time as the mods so I should have lots of additional air flow...

I don't see any point to eliminating the elbow once you cut a big honkin' hole in the front. JMHO.
I noticed very little change in the intake noise. Of course that might be different on a N/A engine.

I did this over my spring break and I decided to leave the deck plate in. At 3,500 ish rpm and higher the car will sound re****ed, obnoxious, and you won't really notice much besides people staring at you wondering why you make so much noise yet don't move any faster. The big hole in the box makes this noise, not the intake pipe. It might be a tad more peppy, but for me with the exhaust (14'' magnaflow) and the intake noise, I just got tired of the sound. Those are some loud 5hp you will gain. Go for it though, you always have the deckplate to put back in if you don't like it. Thats why I did it.

Tunes...

I am used to loud exhaust notes... The last few trucks I ran Aero Turbine mufflers on them - one truck was an old C30 ambulance (10k lbs) with a 454, headers, and dual 3 inch pipes...talk about LOUD...!

These days I just drive around my 1998 4Runner, and have yet to modify the exhaust, but plan on using Aero Turbine again... Not sure if my Yota will be the same as all my General Motors, but I liked the response I got from the pedal when the truck can both suck in, and exhaust out air a whole lot easier...

Thankfully I have already beefed up the stereo in the 4Runner, so I should be able to drown out any intake/exhaust noise with my tunes...

I actually enjoy the sound it makes now. for me it hits around 2500 and louder as you increase throttle. Granted the sound isnt for everyone. Theyre are alot of debates about rather the ISR increases power or not. I notice a little more pep but it could just be the Deckplate mod. Id be interested seeing if someone has ever done a dyno. I did both mods together because both increase the sound even more. and The ISR is the mod that makes it sound the most loud.
