ISR mod

I have an 01 sr5. I'm attempting the mod but have no idea what pipe to use. Will galvanized pipe work at 2.38 inch? Or where can I find apiece at? Thanks again for all your help.

Go to a muffler shop and tell them you need:

Length – 6.00"
Diameter - ID - 2.5"
Diameter - OD - 2.625"

They will cut and stretch the ends of a pipe for $5 - $10 that will fit.

It will look like this:

Ok great I appreciate it. I'll head down there tomorrow. Does it make much difference in performance and sound I see a lot of mixed reviews.
 
Well went to the muffler and they made me one no cost. Sounds great. Find myself at a little lower rpms up hill.
 
Sorry to revive an old thread but on your 2001 did you run the hose that went into the ISR into the the capped port in the intake right at the front of the engine?

Oh yeah, and I haven't noticed any difference in performance...low end torque is definitely a bit weaker but I purr along at highway speed. I didn't remove mine for any performance or sound reasons to be honest, I just hated how much room the silencer took up in the engine bay. Access is easier without it there (plugs, cables etc).
 
Thanks, I don't have the hose coming from the drivers side that goes into the T so I'm pretty sure I can just go into the barb that was capped off(because thats where the T goes into anyway on the photos)

I removed mine for the exact same reason, easier to access the engine on that side and to clean up the engine bay. I just took it out for a spin and I didn't notice any additional noise.

On a side note I used a 2" schedule 40 electrical PVC slip joint and it fit perfect. Use the outer piece which is just shy of 2.75" OD and its 2.5" ID cut to the same length of the ISR. Worked great and cost about $10
 
the port where the hose for the FPR goes doesn't produce vacuum. i thought the FPR needed vacuum to operate? what is the point of the hose attached there?
if it is attached to the port on the front of the plenum or the steel tube on back, what is going to happen when the FPR gets all that vacuum pulling that diaphragm inside? who has the answer to this one because i was looking into this mod but don't want to ruin anything in the process.

what is it and where did you buy it?
 
I will add something to this...

a few weeks ago I came across either a thread or a post about a guy who discussed his findings with the ISR mod and location of hose. He actually used data and legitimate testing to prove that removing the hose from the silencer box and placing it inline with a "T" on that other hose was the cause of lack of power. He then put a fitting on the his straight pipe and put the hose on that (just like it is originally on the silencer box, or how it would be on a CAI). But for what ever reason mostly everyone seems to go by the "how to" and dont realize that its not the best way to do it.

When I found this thread I really wanted to save it but I thought, naw I'll find it again when I need to. Well, no matter how hard I search I cannot find it what-so-ever!

Anyone know what i'm talking about or can help me find this. Its a great resource for the ISR mod!

I do remember that as well and I was thinking I need to put a nipple on my ISR tube but just never go around to it. I also have had no luck finding the post, if you do find it post a link in this thread please.
