Issues with Alignment of Icon billet Uniball Stem to Spindle

I'm installing Billet UCA Kit from Icon and I'm having trouble aligning the uniball stem assembly to the spindle.

The instruction mention that the uniball will be very stiff the first time moving it. I cant seem to budge it.
I think I have the lower UCA jacted up enough for the spindle to meet the billet stem but the angle at which the stem at isn't allowing a direct route into the spindle.

The pic (sorry for the size of it)shows the stem partially the way in but if I force I could damage the threads on the stem.

Any tricks to getting stem to spindle without marring the treads?

thanks!

Place a jack stand under the opposite frame rail as far rearward as you can go the place the jack under the LCA that you're working on and jack it into place. This will bring up the steering knuckle to the UCA and it will be a lot easier to line up.

Currently the 4Runner is on jacks all the way around because I had to remove the XREAS. Would this produce the same effect or should I get the car down from the jacks and proceed with your suggestion?

I don't need to loosen the cam bolts on the LCA do I? Didn't want to mess with being its part of the alignment.

Tap the uniball with a rubber mallet to get it to move, or wrap a rag around the shaft and use some pliers to work it loose. They get very stiff at first (not an issue for the vehicle, but for us feeble fleshies it can be annoying) but I've found once you get them moving they become more compliant (had the same issue installing TC uniballs on my friend's FJ and the Camburgs on my 4Runner).

Also.. .as mentioned put ta jack under the LCA and push it up some... just be careful about it sliding off the jack stands. It will align easier at mid travel. No need to loosen anything to to do this.

How about take the coilovers out? You won't need to whack anything. Take the coilover out and put it together and tighten the nut. Put coilover back in.

Drink beer!
