It doesn't even have plates yet...3rd trip back to dealer.

Ok, for those of you who remembered...at test drive Ruffian had a few issues that I had to hammer out with the sales staff. I won't go into all the details again, but I will not be doing business with them again. I just filled out my Toyota Customer Service survey yesterday and I basically put that if it wasn't for the Service Department manager, I'd never be back for anything except for warranty/TSB work.
Appointment #1 was to have someone look at why 4Lo was not engaging, why there is moisture in the left side head & fog lamps, and of course that annoying clunk issue. All but the 4Lo gear was fixed, since they needed to order parts. The part order only took them 6 weeks to get. Grrrrr.
So, thanks to the dealership and their stupid sales people, I have a new 4Lo gear box on my truck. Cost them $2200 but for me with labor it would of been nearer to the $7000 mark. That was appointment #2. Also at appointment #2, they were supposed to complete a full detail since that was NEVER done when I told them the carpets needed cleaning at the DAY OF the purchase. Yeah, they "forgot" again. So appointment #3 was this morning. I also added in two more issues I want fixed. That well documented rattle in the roof that comes from the loose bar in the sunroof, and also a weather strip issue.
I'm tossing this out there for others advise. There is a weather strip that runs alongside the windshield, back along the roof rack and ends of course at the tailgate edge. The weather strip is lifting up near the tail gate, and is thus not long enough to fit underneith a plastic part at the edge of the windshield. The gal this morning said this fix is probably not going to be covered under the warranty. If they won't fix it, I'll get close up pics to post here for tips on how to fix it on my own.
See, a 2003 4Runner and I'll have it new again in no time!

Thanks. I warned them not to try any of their lies with me, as this is one country chick who knows her stuff about 4x4's and trucks, and more importantly, stuff about Toyota. I told them since this was my 3rd Toyota purchase from the same dealership (now I know why many here say 'stealership'), I expected the "gold card" treatment. And...I came in pre-approved for the loan amount. Again, I won't go into all the details, but let's just say I think the sales staff thought I was lying about knowing my way around a truck. I'm now their worst nightmare since they chose to go the unhonest route.
The service lady just called. It's about almost 3 pm here, and she got an answer from the warranty people at Toyota service. They are not going to fix the rattle in the sunroof as the TSB only states if the sunroof is broken. She says it just needed some lubrication. Oh, and they say that since there is no leak at the weather stip issue, they are not going to cover that either. But they will provide the part number for the plastic part on the edge of the hood cowl. So I'll be back here later with photos. Oh, and they are just now getting to that full detail. I'll have Ruffian back TOMARROW!!! Sigh....yeah. They are not going to get an oil change out of me. Thanks to this site, I can do all my own maintenance! Well except for things having to do with welding or torque wrench needed issues. I don't have those tools. When I'm ready for my suspension lift and rim/tire change, I'll have to find a shop.

Yeah, where did you buy?

I bought from Folsom Lake and they were wonderful and two and a bit years down the road, they still are...

No, not from Auburn and not from Folsom. You know that little place, kind of like a car mall if you will, off North Sunrise? That way I'm not naming names.
The Tacoma, in 1999, I got from the "Same Dealer" but for used cars only location at Douglas & Sunrise. They were actually great to me then, but I did complain about the what seemed as excessive rust on the underbody. They tried to tell me it was because the truck had come from Lake Tahoe. Cracks me up as I got a letter from Toyota a couple of weeks back addressing this very issue, as well as it being discussed here on this board. So if I'm lucky enough say in 5-10 years when I need an upgrade, I'll start with the 2 places you gentleman brought up. I've heard nothing but praise for them...I wish I had listened.
Oh the upside, a strong thumbed tech was able to snap in the plastic cowl guard that keeps the rubber weather strip down. So it wasn't warped/broken, I just don't have strong thumbs.
I'll be getting Ruffian back today, and of course I'll be taking photos. WITHOUT dealer plates on it. Stinking how long does DMV need to make personalized plates!?!?!? It will be 3 months soon since I ordered them!
Thanks guys.:awais:

If you have trouble find Rick in the sales Dept. give me a heads up and I will email him @ Magnussen. we all need family =)

Thanks. There is a Nurse at where I work, her son used to work at Magnussen's, but just went to go work at the Folsom lot. I did go by there when all this stuff started. I was told by a manager that if the stealership did not make good on their promises, since they "...like to throw spagetti at a wall and hope it bounces..", to come back and he would make sure I got into something that would make me happy. I love my truck, it was exactly what I wanted, and that's the only reason I stayed. The truck was first bought at the Folsom dealer, so if I feel lazy and don't want to do an oil change, I'll be going to them.
I WILL not be spending any money at the other place ever again.

gotta love your truck and your horse. =)

Amen, love the horse. But I get a thrill out of the horsepower in my truck!
Matter of a fact, that's my new favorite quote. "When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?"
