It's a dark day in my house (warning: sad read ahead)

Thx [MENTION=155218]yukonjess[/MENTION]. It's nice to get that perspective and on the day of we obviously could not believe how fast things went downhill. He did not indicate how much pain he was until the very end. Even then he was a trooper. He was a mischievous guy, and he was large for the breed he weighed over 30 pounds. I loved to "box" with him. I'd put up my fists and he would take a fighting stance and we'd play around. He'd always stop as soon as I told him to. We are not sure if he ate something he wasn't supposed to. One time he ate two triple chocolate chip cookies but never got sick. It's a mystery, the other two dogs (pugs) are doing OK. I will be getting his ashes back and probably take em somewhere nice and let him go. He was small but his personality was larger than life!

They are in their prime! Received Sam's remains today. Aside from the foofy pink motif, very nicely done. They provided us with his remains, a ceramic paw print, an ink print of his nose and a lock of his fur. Still deciding where to take him for his final resting spot.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I lost my 7 year old cocker in December. Went much the same way Sam did. I found him about midnight, rushed him to a 24 hour vet hospital and xrays showed he had a tumor on his spleen that burst and small tumors in his lungs. Hemangiosarcoma. Didn't even know anything was wrong. He passed about 5 minutes after the x rays came back. I got to be with him at the end. I think about him ever day. My 2 year old daughter asks "where's Duke?"
I've actually been up way too late tonight looking at pictures. Be glad you got the short time that you did and enjoy Sherman. It's hard to lose family. My condolences.

It's been a week. Not sure if I mentioned but we have two pugs. Sherman is the fawn. Chopper is our black one. Sherman is mama's boy, Chopper is our bad boy, and Samurai was the mostly good one. Chopper gets into way more trouble than Sam ever did. Now it's just him and Sherman and Chopper plays too rough with Sherman sometimes. Here's a pic

Sorry about your German Shepherd. We are contemplating another, a friend has a husky that might need to be rehomed but my wife says too soon

I understand completly, i wanted to have a walking buddy so i jumped right in, and i have to say, i really like the no shedding thing with this labradoodle. My sheperd left hair all over. All the best to you and yours my friend.

Thanks! Yeah that must be nice. All of ours shed so it's a daily struggle to keep floors clean.

Man I'm sorry for that experience but glad you got to be together for his journey - went through a similar situation last year. You'll be surprised how this sad time becomes a distant memory buried by all the great times you shared. Hang in there!

Huskies are wonderful dogs, although they can't be trusted off leash and are prone to escaping. I just lost Opie, the one in the foreground, in October. He was probably at least 15 years old. Stella, the one in the middle, is now 13 1/2 and just starting to slow down. Rocky, the one in the back, is 12 1/2 and could still pass for a young adult.
