the 4runner is now probably sitting on the dealers used car lot for much more than i traded it in for...

but we bought a 2012 Acura MDX Tech, brand new. It's really nice.

My wife has been wanting one for a long time, and the 4runner was her daily driver. I never got what i really wanted out of the 4runner, and it didn't make sense for me to drive everyday when my TSX gets 30mpg, and has been paid off for years.

So my plan to have my wife drive a offroad capable, mommy tank, did not turn out as planned, but she is happy, and so am I. I will miss the 4runner, as i did my Xterra, and my Titan, but such is life.

To those who will give me crap about buying a mall-crawler...save it. We traded a great car (very capable and comfortable, and good looking), for something that fits most of our needs better, and is way more comfortable, has 300hp, corners unbelievably for an SUV, and has a sick stereo.

Many of you have been very helpful over the past couple years, and I thank you for that. it's nice to see that there are knowledgable, intelligent people out there who are willing to share their insight, cool ideas, and humor with complete strangers.

I think if I ever move to a location that truely justifies something I can drive overland and enjoy, I will be looking for a weekend car, likely an 80 or 100 series LC.

thanks again. I may be selling/giving away a few items i had in the garage for the 4runner. that will go int he for sale section soon.

The MDX Tech edition is an awesome SUV, my buddy has one and it's got all the cool bells and whistles.
 
I hear ya on the MDX... That was one of the alternatives I looked at when I bought my 4Runner. She will enjoy that CUV. Not as fun to mod, but definitely more fun to blast around corners.

Swing back once in a while and let us know how the MDX is holding up... Maybe you can start a "Previous Owners" section with Brockeverly! :bounce::biggrin1:

Aw, I always get attached to my vehicles and am sad to see them go no matter how much I liked them (or didn't like them) or what new vehicle I am getting. I have always loved the MDX's and even test drove a few before getting the 4Runner. But hubby didn't care for them much and the T4R was one we both loved. Enjoy your new Acura!
 
not the best pic. this was at the dealership as we were unloading the 4runner. I'll get another one up soon.

I had a tow hitch installed yesterday as part of the purchase deal and I will be installing the sport running boards soon.

love the MDX... I've driven a few of the 04's. excellent, comfy ride. reliable as hell. Can only imagine how much nicer the new ones are.
 
My folks have an MDX that they've loved. Great vehicles and that new 3.5L V6 is awesome on the road.

I did the same thing with my wife--DD sedan for me and a LC for her. Perfect, right? She did not like it, especially after having a couple of kids, so we got her a Subaru. She's much happier now and that's all that matters.

BTW, I did take over the LC, and it makes a nice family camping/weekend getaway rig.
 
Lance - thanks for chiming in pal. I know the new concept is coming out, and yes i got a very good deal.

mike/pnut- my inlaws have an 04, and it's a nice ride. this is miles ahead however in every aspect.

it's a 3.7L engine, and yes it's very smooth with the 6-speed auto.

Nothing wrong with a positive "goodbye" post. Its the ones that trash the 4R and list everything they hate about it who seem to get the unpleasant responses. I'm looking at the unfortunate necessity of having to trade my 2011 for a Tacoma in the next year. The 4R is the best vehicle I've ever had, but hauling needs and shedding dogs are forcing me to look at going back to a pickup. That Acura looks sweet. Hope you enjoy it!

I beg to differ, I heard very little positive in my parting thread and did none of the above. Loved the 4R, but wanted to pull a bigger trailer, have a bed, and had v8 envy. Nothing bad to say about most here though.
 
That sucks. At least it looks like the OP here is getting positive responses. I'm kind of surprised that you got negative responses since you stayed with a Toyota product.
 
MDX is still on my short list. I'm in a BMW 530i now, but want to get back into an SUV. The MDX is a drivers SUV, and doesn't give up anything to the X5 in the turns.

I had a 2011 Corvette, a 2012 4Runner TE when I married my wife. She had a 2012 Taurus Limited. Her oldest son turned 16 AND we found out we were pregnant (my first, her third) ...we went through our finances and we decided the Corvette was just not going to survive.

The Corvette went bye bye and a 2011 Yukon XL Denali came home.
