It’s new battery time..interstate?

Hey all
I think I might have asked this the last time I replaced battery..I was just checking to see if the battery tech has changed. I’ve always used interstate with decent success.
I think the local firestone has the interstate( forgot the model)that supposed to fit my 3rd gen. I Think it was a $150. I am in NY,so our summers aren’t crazy hot and our winters ain’t crazy cold I thought I’d add that because in looking for battery info that might make a difference..

I run 2 amps for my audio and have 2 small rigids and one bigger bar I never run anything with the vehicle not running.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

That's the brand a close friend at a BMW dealership installs on all their cars, who not a Toyota? Enjoy that Runner! :cowboy:
 
Just finished slow charging an Interstate battery on my neighbor’s CRV. Voltage read 12.37 volts but only had 175 out of 650 CCAs available so it wouldn’t turn over. Battery is only 26 months old.

Of all the batteries I have ever had to help jump, charge, or replace within a 3 year post install period, most have been Interstate. I’d look for a Deka, Odessey, Autozone or even an Everlast instead.
 
There are only a few battery makers in the whole country so there are a lot of different names on a few manufacturers batteries. Exide Technologies, Johnson Controls Inc. and Delphi supply most of the batteries sold in the US. I think the Napa Legend made by Exide is pretty good.
 
I just went through this a few weeks ago, I went with the NAPA premium battery. It was less expensive than the Interstate and from I could read ( and was told by a few different auto parts people that I know) the NAPA batteries are now made in Eastern PA at East Penn Manufacturing.
Mine seems to be working well so far and it has a decent warranty. Good enough for the beater truck that I drive. :first:

I know a lot of it comes down to personal Preference and how well a Battery has treated you in the past.. Gonna keep on looking and then make a decision.. I have a Deka in my Jetski and in the off season it stays on a Tender.... so far so good!

Dare I say get a toyota battery??? I got mine during a sale last in December for 105$...has a 85 month warranty too...its the third one I've bought for this truck since 2001...I don't think it's worth getting an AGM battery unless you got a ton of stuff pulling on it...I did the caddy alternator too...everything is bright.

I'm still on my original Toyota battery in my '08 Tundra...do the math.
 
Just replaced the battery in my wife’s 2012 Highlander. It was one month shy of being three years old, and it’s an Interstate. We got it at Costco because it was priced reasonably, and Costco always has a great warranty and exchange policy. However, taking to the guy at the counter, he said he wishes they would switch back to the Kirkland batteries, as those tend to last a long time, and cost only a little more. He said he’s seen about 70% of the returns being premature failure on the Interstate batteries. He’s not a fan of them.

That said, mine was under warranty, so I only had to pay the price difference. There was a price hike of $2.99 in those three years. After this one, I don’t know if I’ll go back to an Interstate. For a company that spends a shitload of money projecting an image of a premium brand, the products are subpar, IMO. 70% failure rate is pretty bad.

If it's a Panasonic, like the factory batteries in our 3G 4Runners, then that's no surprise. Unfortunately, you can't get those Panasonics in North America unless you buy a car to go with it. The dealer replacements are no where near as good.

Those batteries are insane. I have my original 1996 Panasonic sitting on a float charger. It still holds charge after being swapped out for a fresher battery in 2004.
 
I got 8 1/2 years out of an interstate battery in my '95 Celica gt. Can't complain. Also, last year I replaced and OEM battery in my '97 4runner that was almost 5 years old with a new OEM Toyota battery. I prefer the non maintenance free batteries as long as you check them and add distilled water once in awhile.

That's crazy!! I wonder if it's that TV brand that used to make them and get shipped over when new...The replacement ones from Toyota I think are made by Interstate, I just like the Toyota sticker and the long warranty...My last one I took out of my 99 went in my 97 so it's still going...wanted a new one with the big alternator swap I did.
